I have forgotten what a powerful set of pipes she had. I think she got lumped in with a lot of late 70s, early 80s divas.

Definitely the best version of this song. I like Angela Winbush's version as well as Alton McClain and Destiny.

When did Angela Winbush do her version?

No,he wasn't in the group but he wrote a few songs for EW&F.Philip Bailey says that he wishes EW&F had recorded Skip's song "Love Ballad",which was given to L.T.D. and later covered by George Benson.

I wonder if Skip offered it to EW&F first and they declined it?

I don't know if he offered it to them, but my guess would be yes and they along with other artist turned it down . He had a hard time trying to get someone to record 'Love Ballad'..can you imagine that..now imagine if Reese would have recorded it. The knock on it at the time was it had no hook.

Skip was much more than a writer.For example he produced the last lp by Alton McClain&Destiny "Gonna Tell The World" in `81 for Polydor records.Probably their best lp imvho.

And don`t forget all the stuff he did with Con Funk Shun.He aslo worked with Chuck Cissel,Freda Payne and numerous others which i have forgotten about LOL.
