New rumour from Madonna.com: Madonna is supposedly taking Flamenco classes for the tour. Very likely that "Who's That Girl" gets a Flamenco choreography, but question is, will it be a full performance or just an extension of "Spanish Lesson" or "La Isla Bonita"?

God - she always has the WORST taste when it comes to her own songs. Why keep in both Spanish Lesson AND LIB and ALSO add another latin tinged song? The Latin thing is beat to the death! She includes Who's That Girl - a 'flamenco' version - but all but ignores Bedtime Stories, Erotica and American Life every tour (cept RIT, which was in support of AL). Ugh.

I agree that the Spanish theme is kinda overdone when it comes to Madonna tours, but I do like "La Isla Bonita" each time she plays it.

Like A Prayer album is also ignored (she only does the first or second single), and American Life couldn't really shine on RIT as only 5 songs were performed with one of the singles relegated to an interlude...

I'll say it again: she has the worst taste when it comes to her own work, hence "Evita," "Candy Shop," the live renditions of "La Isla Bonita," choosing "American Life" as a single, shunning "Erotica," playing "Devil" on this tour...

I'm over the Spanish thing too, but PLEASE PLEASE bring back "Who's That Girl". I'm sick of it being the redheaded step-child in Madonna's catalog. It's one of my all time (if not my all-time) favorite M tracks, and it was a trans-Atlantic #1 hit to boot. After all but ignoring it since 1987, she needs to play it, and add it to the tracklist of her new Greatest Hits CD. Of course, if she performs it the way she's currently doing "Borderline" (ie: with a guitar, off key, completely ignoring the song's melody), then maybe I don't want her to do it. hmm

don't know if this has been brought up or discussed or speculated on here, but i had a thought earlier today that perhaps her tour this year extending Sticky & Sweet is an excuse to get another tour on her LiveNation contract under her belt.

with the rumors that they don't really want to be a record label after all and are thinking of licensing the production/promotion/distrubution of her next album back to Warner Bros., perhaps the relationship has soured just a tad and she's found a loophole to get one of the tours she "owes" them out of the way?

the woman is not that dumb; it was the TITLE TRACK to one of her biggest flop movies EVER! of course she don't play it!

that's what I'm saying...i love WTG, the recorded version - but live I think it may suck the fat one. Then again, knowing M it will blow us all away - or it WON'T be WTG - it'll be Causing a Commotion or Now I'm Following You (parts 1 and 2).

then again, I'm one of the only M queens (or kings?) who would love to hear something from I'm Breathless. I love that record - the whole jazzy, torchy, big band vibe suited her voice so well. I'm up for Sooner or Later, Hanky Panky, Back in Business, Now I'm Following You, etc.

you wont hear that cause she wasn't in control of the product. Really its the only time that she just went in and did something that worked without the whore marketing herself.

Where are you getting that from? Madonna co-wrote most of the songs on I'm Breathless and she spoke very highly about the Stephen Sondheim songs. She dedicated an entire segment to Dick Tracy on BAT (which was of course shameless promo for her movie career) and she did sing "Hanky Panky" on the Re-Invention Tour. In fact around Bedtime Stories, she called I'm Breathless as one of her favourite albums.

tha's true. In fact I think she worked HARD on the album. You gotta see it that way: Filming DT - 1989-1990. Promoting LAP - 1989
Recording the soundtrack 1989/90.

and after that she worked on BAT and new songs for TIC.

Guy Oseary was back in the studio with Madonna tonight... and brought her on Tweetland again.
We heard from the horse's mouth that M is keeping her fingers crossed so that all will go well with Mercy,
that she doesn't hate anyone (inclusing the NYV paps) but horses don't like surprises as they are very sensative animals,
that lately she's been listening to electro house...

Hint at direction of the new material?

from ICON (official site)....

Paul Oakenfold was in the studio with Madonna this week, producing some new tracks for Madonna's greatest hits compilation. He describes the new songs as "cutting-edge with an Old School classic feel.I think we have achieved that and I think people are going to be really happy with this bunch of songs".

"this bunch of songs"? hmmm I predict that these sessions will lead to her next studio album, which she's probably gonna start working on in the fall.

Nah, this is more like a one off thing. I doubt she's gonna start working in the fall, her next album would come out in November 2010 and I doubt she can decide about her sound just yet. Also, she's more likely to go back to Malawi after the tour.

I agree, it's too early to think about a new album. These song are for the best of, and I'm sure after the tour she'll start working on new songs with producers. Maybe it's like with TIC where she wrote two song with Shep and later she did with him Erotica as well.

Btw, are M and SP in quarrells or why did she not mention him on the RnR HOF speech. Did she mention Steve Bray ?

Shep also did "Vogue" which was massive so they wanted to repeat that success with a full album, and she loved his remixes before that. I don't think Oakenfold will be used on the same level.

I'm sure she mentioned Stuart in the Hall of Fame speech. She did not mention a lot of people. If I recall well, the ones mentioned were: Nile Rodgers, Babyface, Joe Henry, Patrick Leonard, William Orbit, Mirwais Ahmadzai, Stuart Price, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland & Justin Timberlake. She left out way too many collaborators, Jellybean, Stephen Bray & Shep Pettibone are the biggest omissions, they surely shaped her career more than Babyface, Joe Henry, Stuart or the Hard Candy people...

She was never in quarrels with Stuart, he accepted and encouraged Madonna into the HC direction. He did diss Pharrell's style in another interview though.

What's the point of her doing classics? She always f**** them up when she tries to remix / re-invent them:

hence: live to tell, erotica, like a virgin, burning up, borderline - on her last fewtours.

I really like the reworked version of Erotica, and i thought Burning Up was ok - but i agree the rest were pretty poor.

Her reworked versions of Vogue, Into The Groove & Like A Prayer on this tour are very good though. Ive got the studio demo remix of Vogue and it sounds brilliant with Timbalands beat, and played loud.

I don't even listen to the original version of "Like A Virgin" anymore.I prefer the version that she performed on the Confessions Tour.I also love what she did with "Erotica (You Thrill Me)" on that tour as well."Vogue" on the Sticky and Sweet tour is also a favorite. When you tour as often as she does, you get bored performing songs the same way everytime. You gotta re-invent the songs to keep them fresh.

Twitter updates from the studio
Madonna did indeed takeover Guy Oseary's Twitter account yesterday and cleared up a few rumours and answered some questions.
Guy also confirmed that today (Friday 01 May) would be Madonna's last day in the studio recording tracks for the greatest hits album.
In reply to all the messages of support over her adoption appeal:
thanks for support.. fingers crossed all will go well with Mercy.. -M

Asked what she was listening to these days, Madonna replied:
@boxofboom electronic music/electro house... -M

When asked if she really hated the paps in NYC she replied:
@aaronnyc i dont hate anyone. horses dont like surprises. they are very sensitive animals.. -M

Madonna also cleared up the rumour that she was leaving Rocco and David with Guy while she was on tour:
@perezhilton what is this rubbish about me dumping my children off for the summer while Im on tour? They go where i go.-M

I really enjoy her remixed versions. It's boring to me to hear them just like the original. And her versions aren't that different. They still have the same melody. What was different about Live to Tell on the Confessions tour? It was very close to the original version.
