Madonna tops hardworking mothers list

Madonna has topped a list of Hollywood's most hardworking mothers after reportedly earning $110 million (£74.8 million pounds) in 2008.
Actresses Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow came second and third respectively on the Forbes list, which was released on Friday.
Lauren Streib, who helped compile the data, told Reuters that the 50-year-old singer 'had an incredible year'.
'She had the top tour of any musician....The tour sold out around the world. So it wasn't surprising as much as it is a commentary on how successful her year was,' she said.
Witherspoon earned an estimated $24 million (£16.3 million), while Paltrow had earnings of around $20 million (£13.6 million). The list is based on estimated earnings of Hollywood mothers with at least one child.

I don't think she should drop either Give it to Me or Miles Away. She should drop one of the non-singles from HC. At the concert, I went to Miles Away got a fantastic response.
I'm not too excited about Holiday. She's played it so many times. I would much prefer to hear Who's That Girl which has not been performed that much.

Why is is that every tour there is a rumour that Who's That Girl is being rehearsed/considered? I truly don't see it happening. But if she would adjust the set list to the below, she could not only sell out all her schedule dates; but she could even revisit US markets and actually sell out the stadiums this time (if word got out about which songs were being added/changed to the general ticket buying public).

It's been a year ish now since HC came out; since it's the second leg and it's not really to push the album any further in Europe but a plan to bring in more money in ticket sales, the above setlist still retains 5 songs from HC but throws in a much more satisfying group of huge, classic hits. Madonna - I won't charge you for my creaitve input! lol

I agree, she would be crazy to remove "Miles Away".It got a very enthusiastic reception from the fans. For me,it was one of the highlights of the entire show.

Madge can't scrap Miles Away, its one of the highlights of the show when everyone hands claps in unison at the end. And the song, despite its bad sales, is one of her best for years! The lady should scrap Ray of Light or Hung Up from the finale, she's played them to death in the last few years.

Not a good argument, she's visiting several countries for the first time and she's gonna play to people who never saw her and they will be more excited to hear "Ray Of Light" & "Hung Up".

I do agree that it was a great live performance, but if something has to be dropped and it's not "Spanish Lesson", then I'd say "MA" is the most likely one to be gone. Unless she really drops "Give It 2 Me", but that was a real hit in many European countries so it would be weird to drop that one.

I don't think any of the 'Hard Candy' songs should be dropped. If she has to get rid of something, how about the over-played "Ray Of Light" and/or "Music"? Or "Human Nature",which really wasn't that great anyway (the live version). There is room for improvement in this setlist.

The "WTG" rumour comes from the Sidewalk Talk section of Madonna.com, so it's a rumour created by the official site, therefore most people believe it's likely to happen.

Yes, it's a year since HC, but not even the 2008 leg was about "pushing the album" as in several countries she sold more S&ST tickets than HC albums. It's about the concept of the show and that Madonna can still pull off a very balanced setlist of old and new. As I said, most of the 2009 tour is going to have a new audience and they will be already more than happy to hear the likes of "Vogue" or "Like A Prayer" so exchanging 4 HC songs to classics is not that necessary. The tour posters have HC on them, so I'm already surprised that she considered taking one song away from it.

It could fit in theory, but it would mean cutting the backdrop and the Rolls Royce and I can't see them doing that. Plus it would mean yet another "pimp" version of "Holiday" and we had that on DWT.

I wonder if "She's Not Me" is the one to be removed? It's a massive fan favourite, but if you think about it, "Who's That Girl" could be performed with those "old" versions of Madonna, the backdrop even, it would fit Old School with a funky arrangement, don't know... I know "She's Not Me" was *almost* cut from the final tracklist of HC and I think one interviewer called it "very Madonna" and she was like "yeah yeah, but I prefer 'Candy Shop', 'Miles Away' & 'Devil Wouldn't Recognize You'", so maybe she's not THAT into it? confused

As much as I would love "Music" to be removed (this mash-up is not as strong as the 2000-2006 live versions), it's one of her biggest hits and it has to be performed for the crowd.

I agree with "Human Nature", that one might be the weakest link of the show, but she seems to be obsessed with trying to pass on the "I'm not sorry" message and the Britney thing...

well, as a kind of thrown in or medley but why should se do that. Holiday has nothing to do with Beat Goes On lyrically, also I doubt she'll change it, changing a few bars means altering the performance.

It was said by Madonna Tribe, who gave a lot of accurate details on the tracklist and the songs in late 2007 already.

They said "Incredible" was meant to replace "She's Not Me", but in the end "SNM" stayed and another track got kicked by "Incredible". Wonder if it was "Ring My Bell" or a Timbaland song?

As for the interview I mentioned:

http://www.madonnatribe.c...e&sid=2091

Io Donna: I listened to the new album and I like the song She’s Not Me.
Madonna: Why?
Io Donna: Because it's very "Madonna"
Madonna: I prefer Candy Shop, Miles Away and Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You. But yeah, I like She’s Not Me as well

I'd agree that she has done Holiday quite a few times live, but I'm a bit bias as I've never seen the lady performing it live myself...so it would be killer for her to do it this summer! biggrin

Good point well made about her performing to audiences she has never performed to before....on that basis I cant see her dropping Hung Up or Ray of Light. I live in hope though.

IMO that picture should never be used again. It is hideous.

Who's That Girl is one of my favorite 80s songs, but if she sings it now it could be a disaster. Remember her attempt to sing Open Your Heart last year? disbelief Fingers crossed though as I've always loved the song (way to go, Pat Leonard).

well, it's a bit hit and miss. I.e. I liked the Hard Cabdy cover and back cover but loathed the booklets, especially the awful colours.
American Life was well done, but I hate the covers.
Music was fab
COADF I liked too.

I think most of her covers and booklets are okay, I only weep about the fact she doesn't include lyrics since 2000!
