Awesome show. I've seen the UWF all stars perform twice and
i've never seen anything like it as far as putting together
legendary funk bands together as one unit.

That's the best I've EVER seen Larry Dodson look, lol. But I can't help but feeling that MY generation, gettin' down with their funky bad selves, is starting to look more and more like those Doo-Wop Tribute Concerts they throw on PBS, lol. I'm almost ashamed to admit... these clips were sounding and looking good, lol.

I feel like that old guy in "Coming To America", at the Black Awareness Rally, sitting in the middle of his two buddies during the Sexual Chocolate performance (@ 2:12), when he says of Randy Watson... "Got-Dayum that boy can sing! He good!", lol.

I've got a DVD of one of their shows.....great stuff.

Not sure if it's this one though....could be.

From what i'm aware of, there's only one dvd released. Charlie Wilson can only be seen at the intro of the show,
but other footage of his contribution from his Gap Band catalogue has not been released on that dvd,
because copyright-costs for those live-versions seemed to be very high.

Yes i'm afraid our funk bands of the 70's and 80's will probably be PBS
material in less than 10 years.

I was watching that same show with The Contours, lol. Actually, it was a really good show, I learned a lot about the music of that time (I think PBS is an excellent network). So I had that footage fresh in my mind when I first saw this post. How folks of a certain era reminisce about the music of their time, it's very heartwarming. Watching The Contours, and all those other famous Doo-Wop groups, reminded me of how we will all have our time. Eventually, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Britney and all the rest of the kids, will be out there; easing on across the stage in later years, to a screaming (if not napping, lol) audience of their fans - all up in their 40's & 50's. The Circle of Life, lol.
