This is great music. But to see it segregated like this does it all a great disservice.

I guess it's more evolved than John Wayne's collection. wink

Very happy to see Stone Roses so high up there. But the whole lists seems like they are trying very hard to be "cool".

I think it means heterosexual male. You know every man's man. smile Whatever it means I only really like 9 out of 75...Though there are some albums by groups I do like, like The Temptations, Jimmy Hendrix, and Bob Marley. I just like other albums by those artists better. But these are my favorite from THIS list...

The ones I've got are:

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Cody Chesnutt - The Headphone Masterpiece
Bob Marley - Catch A Fire
Travelling Wilburies - Volume One
Talking Heads (it's not actually mine tho')
Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain
Jimi Hendrix - Gypsys (I think I recall getting that from iTunes hmmm)
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life

That's 8 out of 76.

Is there an actual list in print rather than having to go through those pictures? That damn slide show takes too long to load.

I'm assuming that the entire list is either pop/rock and that the only R&B is crossover stuff or either huge names like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, or Parliament that pop fans have heard of (which is usually stuff that radio and critics wear out over the years). I bet there's no Zapp, Barkays, Lakeside, or Cameo on the list. In that case.....NEXT!!!!! lol

Not even Parliment is on the list.

I didn't know who a few of the people were:
Out of Step, Minor Threat
The Headphone Masterpiece, Cody Chessnut
The Best of Mississippi John Hurt (Live at Oberlin College, 1966), Mississippi John Hurt
Live at the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas, Townes Van Zandt
Woke on a Whaleheart, Bill Callahan
The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place, Explosions in the Sky
Marquee Moon, Television
Brighter Than Creation's Dark, Drive-By Truckers
Left to His Own Devices, Vic Chessnut
Penthouse, Luna

These are the other r&b/jazz albums that made the list:
James Brown (Live at the Apollo), Sam Cook (Nightbeat), Stevie Wonder (Songs In The Key of Life), Marvin Gaye (What's Going On), Nas (Illmatic), The Temptations (Gettin' Ready), Otis Redding (Dictionary of Soul), Ike and Tina Turner (Workin' Together), Miles Davis (Sketches In Spain), Slick Rick (The Adventures of Slick Rick), Notorious BIG (Ready To Die), Ray Charles (Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music), Jay-Z (Reasonable Doubt),

Eclectic group of albums at the very least.
I've probably heard 70-75% of them.

Very impressed by the inclusion of...

...Taj Mahal's Giant Step

I have 18 of those, and I've always considered my collection quite respectable...

I also would disagree with some of the albums selected for the artists...

For example:

The Clash - Should have been London Calling
Miles Davis - Should have been Kind of Blue or numerous others
Radiohead - OK Computer
The Beatles - Revolution
The Who - Tommy or The Who Sings My Generation...

As many have said already, that list is missing way too much...

However, I can't say that if one didn't own those 75 albums they wouldn't have a pretty solid 75 albums. There's some good stuff on it, it's just severely lacking and I think it intentionally doesn't include more obvious superior albums...

But Wow at Modern Sounds in Country Music, and Traveling Wilburys. Two solid solid albums I was pleased to see and didn't expect.

The Temptations Gettin' Ready

Five out of 75.
