The best Mpls Sound albums

Which 5 albums do you believe are the best examples of the Mpls Sound?

Mine would be.

Prince - 1999
Prince - Controversy
The Time - What Time Is It?
Andre Cymone - Livin' In The New Wave
Mazarati - Mazarati

Is this SOS band 2 album good. I bypassed it on my vinyl dig cuz i
wasn't familiar with the songs on it. I know they had a cut out that
sounded just like take your time but can't remember the name.

OK, this may be "off-topic" but, to me the MPLS sound is about three artists all at the same time:

Prince -- 1999
The Replacements -- Tim
Husker Du -- Candy Apple Gray

LOVE them all.

No.

No?

Explain yourself.

100 mph and Stroke are two of the finest examples of the MPLS Sound I could think of.

I'd like to add

Madame X.

Splanknasty

You mean albums without Prince on?

Cinema: Cinema 6.

http://theheaviestfunkint...ong-house/

All time classic of Minneapolis funk. Actually, no, scrub that. All time classic minimalist electronic soulful funk album.

Jesse Johnson: Every Shade of Love. The Heaviest and Bestest.

These are utterly essential.

After that, I don't know. 'Life According to Bernadette Cooper' was good, whoever suggested that.

Vanity 6 definitely deserves a nod.

As a matter of fact, 1982 brought about thee Holy Grail of MPLS albums:

What Time Is It?
Vanity 6
1999
Let's have a Menage a Trois!

this thread has forced me
to pull out the albums
mentioned in here that I own

I played Madame X last night
and I cannot believe
I've had that album
for close to 2 years
and never paid attention...
there was alot of earcandy on there

same with Jesse Johnson's Revue
I've had it for close to a year
and just bit into it last night

great albums

today I think I'll be
doing a Tabu playlist

I need to revisit SOS Band's Too
and Alex's Hearsay
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."
