The Take Control singer has been hard at work flying to and from Miami , LA, Atlanta and New York to work with various big name music producers. The set will be executive produced by grammy award winning producer Bryan Micheal Cox. Def Jam reps. claim that things are in place to take Amerie's career up a notch using a marketing scheme similar to that used to make Rihanna the household name she is now.The first single will primiere in Sring 2009 YALL READY??

My guess is since Rihanna is down it's easy to market her this time around...

I have never gotten her. She's pretty weak IMO. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

As long as they dont get her to conform to their ways, Def Jam is good for lousy marketing and getting female singers to be nothing more than puppets for their producers, (ex..rihanna,mariah,milian) but Amerie has to me always been a step above the normal routine, she has the class, the style, the natural sex appeal of a 70's singer, Amerie makes you think, she doesnt throw it in your face.
As for the producers im just glad to not see the norms like Akon,Tim,Tpain etc.. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Some of the producers are still predictable but at least it wasnt THE most obvious ones. Hopefully the songs are tight. I don't expect to be as impressed as I was with her 2007(?) album though.

She's not neccessarily a ground breaking artist in any way but i did
like a few tracks on her first album and 1 thing. I wasn't impressed with her second album. It sounds rushed. Never heard the album that got shelved. She is one sexy mutha#@$@%%. Don't laugh at my funk

It all depends on her input, most of the 2007 record was her doing, but her "strength" and "push" is what got her tossed from Sony in the USA, she was making alot of friends there. But to me you gotta be that way, you have to seperate yourself from the pack, and to me Amerie did that with the last 2 records, mainly the last one, i mean she was breathing some life into the female RB scene, that had no life at all. So if she keeps her strength as "opinionated" person than im trusting her. She is one sexy mutha#@$@%%. it only got shelved here, though some tracks made into her "playlist" cd that Sony threw together after they parted ways. I wasnt feeling her album one, because it was all too lightweight, i like her when her grooves are heavy sounding. To be honest, there is something about that list of producers that make me think they would appreciate Amerie's individuality and input on the songs.

I agree, thats probably why you dont see the most used ones, i think most of the ones listed are a little more receptive and are more what she is looking for, i think they have a little more identity than the normal "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I agree about Def Jam. Rihanna is probably the most successful female act (other than Mimi and I don't count her because she didn't originate from them) to come from their camp in a while. Let's hope Amerie has some success with them. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I mainly want more of the same from Amerie, its been growth since day one, Album 3 was the best thing in Mainstream RB for a female since Aaliyahs final cd, its very rare for me to be able to go back and still listen to a RB mainstream females cd months and years after its first release, but Amerie nailed it. It wasnt domestically released but alot of places like Virgin and Best Buy stocked it as an import, depending on your location, most places actually had it cheaper than the regular cds they carried, i got this import for 15.99 brand new while other cds there were 16,17 "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Her voice kinda gives me an "ice cream headache." A little too shrill for my tastes. She's pretty, though.. "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

I like Amerie and I think she has a pretty voice. I heard a few songs from her last album and was impressed (I especially loved "Paint Me Over"). Too bad the album wasn't released in the U.S.
I wish her well though and hope she has better luck with the new album. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

She's not a glam chick. To me, that's a good thing. Its just not that much of an asset as pop entertainer. [Edited 3/18/09 10:16am]
