.... a long-time favorite of mine - Funkanova! I love that song. My sister just gave me the "New Jersey Deep" version of it by Black Science Orchestra from Defected in the House - Miami 2007, and I was bumpin' it last week.

biggrin Kool! Man, I'm so glad to see so many who are up on that tune! I've heard a handful of great mixes of it so far, including BSO...

So that we don't ignore the Ladies of Bass, here's a few clips of a woman (Amanda Ruzza) I hung out with during this past Summer NAMM...

...The guitarist in the 2nd clip (Alex Nolan) I also had the pleasure of spending some time with.

See was school-mate of and developed a friendship with another "up and comer"...

...Esperanza Spalding

(1st clip Autumn Leaves, 2nd clip on electric as opposed to her normal acoustic)

Nice! I have never seen Esperanza playing an electric bass before.

Last month's issue of Bass Player actually has a brief interview with Carol Kaye. She had some good insight on the differences in teaching men and women how to play bass.

Marvin Isley (like his brother Ernie on guitar) is VERY overlooked and underrated. sad I was actually just commenting to my sister about this thread and how I forgot to add his bass line on their version of "Hello, It's Me" to my list.

Well here is Carol Colman with Kid Creole & the Coconuts. She gets the spotlight around 4:10. biggrin

Oh, and one of my Kid favs, Stool Pigeon. Carol doesn't get solo on this one but she holds it down anyway.
