Nobody couldn't tell ya you weren't looking good, huh? Arr'right but now you know. Don't wanna have that Huggy Bear experience. I don't know why but when Huggy Bear began to get clowned by the younger residents, I laughed my ass off! "Brother looks like he's walking on an aquarium." "Say brother, did you get nosebleed?" "Maybe it's his dinner." "(raucous laughter) Say man, did you step in a flood?!" "Say brother you been shoppin' at the Goodwill?" (I think that was Marlon's line) "He looks like an endangered species!" "He looks like a clown (Huggy Bear's shoe breaks glass)" "Nasty brother, where's the Mardi Gras?!"

Wow you guys are harsh. The only thing I can say bad about dude is he wasn't a terrific singer. The fashions (church shoes, acid wash, jean sets etc...) were what people wore way back in '87-'88. You have to look at who came on the scene at the same time as AL. He was up against Keith Sweat, Tony Terry, Guy, NE, and Bobby Brown. They all wore the same clothes. They all looked like they had accounts at Jeans West and Chess King.
As far as being "Tangy or Zesty", I probably would chalk that up to not having any stage presense. He was what 18 or 19 at the time, and wasn't being marketed towards teens, so I can forgive him for being a horrible dancer. What I did like was the production on his albums didn't sound cheap, and I liked the "Killing me softly" remake. I don't think he's too old for a comeback. Maybe he'll actually drop the falsetto this time and actually sing. (One of my roomates in college went to highschool with Al B. and I had to hear about how he was friends with him all semester long. That got tired real quick.) [Edited 3/16/09 1:49am] [ZUNECARD]MikeChristopher[/ZUNECARD]
