U2: "U2360" Tour & Live Nation Deal

The Kiss the Future Tour, an upcoming concert tour by U2, in support of the group's 2009 album, No Line on the Horizon. After spending the previous two tours, the Elevation Tour and the Vertigo Tour, primarily playing indoor arenas with a more intimate stage design, the Kiss the Future tour will take place entirely in large stadiums. The tour will feature of a 360-degree staging/audience configuration.
The tour will be U2's first under their 12-year deal with Live Nation.

U2 will play approximately 40–45 shows in 2009. They will begin the tour in Europe in June and play the continent through 22 August 2009. The band will begin the North American leg of the tour on 12 September 2009 at Soldier Field in Chicago and will end it on 28 October 2009. The band will return to American stadiums for June and July 2010, and travel back to Europe for August and September 2010. The tour will then tentatively visit South America in late 2010. The Kiss the Future Tour could potentially consist of 90-100 shows over the next two years.

The tour will feature a 360-degree configuration, with the stage being placed closer to the center of the stadium's field than usual. The stage will have no defined front or back and will be surrounded on all sides by the audience. The stage design will also include a cylindrical video screen and will increase the venues' capacities by about 15–20%.

The tour will feature a tiered pricing system for tickets; the most expensive ticket will be slightly higher in price than the last tour, but the cheapest tickets, the general admission tickets, will be lower in price than the previous tour. Playing larger capacity venues allows the band to price tickets more conservatively. Field level tickets will be priced at $55, and approximately 10,000 tickets per show will cost $30. The price points will be $30, $55, and depending on the market, $90–95 and $250.

Tickets for European shows will go on sale in mid-March, while North American tickets will go on sale in late March or early April. Random fans who purchase general admission tickets will be given seating closest to the stage.

Large Stadium shows suck royally, despite the performer.

u2.com is calling the tour U2360~ (i don't have a degree sign so that will have to substitute, lol).

i LOVE u2 in a stadium setting...aloha stadium was the best show of the last tour! popmart was such a better show than the last couple tours because of all you can in a stadium show.

my brother and i were just talking about how we hope they do a stadium tour in the states this time out! smile

I have never enjoyed the stadium shows, i have been to some, and i like them when im there, but a few days after im thinking, that show was pretty empty of feeling. And it has nothing to do with the artist, because i have seen u2, Prince, bruce,Jovi,Mj,George Michael, Elton,Billy all in very large settings, and the music of course is great but its just this "empty feeling"

Seems tour extensions on the same continents is the Live Nation norm now. They already announce that they would be back in EU & NA in 2010, so I can imagine the rush being not as big as usual for U2 tickets.

except for the fact that U2 always does that. they also always change their setlist with each leg so fans go to each leg. i dont think U2 has to worry about anything...on their last tour they played 4 nights in chicago and still came back to the city again for two more nights.

and record sales for the new cd show that people really will buy cds for really good music. in the UK, U2's number 1 record sold more than the combined total of all other acts in the top 5. not too shabby for a bunch of 50 year olds who work in an industry where, allegedly, nobody wants to buy the product.

Good for U2. This new album deserves all the attention. Not saying it's a classic just yet. Time will tell.
