Rahsaan Patterson - Best modern day vocalist.

without doubt.

not only that, his albums are also absolutely amazing, funk and soul with a unique twist. some of my fave ever. i think the only male vocalists ive heard better are noticeably al green and prince.

Stop Breaking My Heart - live at jazz cafe: (unbelievable)

You need to check out his version of the "Blow Monkeys" song, "Diggin' Your Scene". Great version!!

rolleyes There are some fans of this guy here. I wish I could get into him, but I can't stand him. I don't know what it is. I think it's his vocal delivery that bothers me. It's always a bit too "broadway" meets "choir boy" for my taste.

absolutely mind blowing.

it angers me that this guy has to be categorised as "underground" hes worthy of being on the top.

Him, Saadiq and Stokely (Mint Condition) have imo a somewhat similar voice-tone.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The first time i heard him sing lead was on "No Place To Hide",
from the third album of the Clarke/Duke-Project, released around 1990 :

Yeah, this cat can blow. One of the top 3 best R&B vocalists out right now. Easily. His debut album is ridiculously off the charts. And some of y'all may remember him as The Kid on "KIDS Inc." from back in the day.

And it (voice) blows the sum of most of the rest of black male artists away by miles lol

LOVE

Everytime I hear that song, it sounds like a Chante Moore cut, as well as it sounds like her in the chorus.

Didn't Chante have a song entitled" It's Alright Now", on her first CD? I think she did so, you are not imagining things.
