Really? It's easily in my top 3 Whitney songs. I love everything about it: the vocals, the guitar, the fantastic chorus... perfection to my ears! I dunno why I like it. I just do! Whoooooh!

A lot of us remember this entire album was in response to her being "Booooed" at the Soul Train Awards a couple of year prior every time anything from her 1987 album "Whitney" was announced as a nominee for one of the awards. Honestly, I never understood why the black community considered the "Whitney" album as not black enough. Did they bother to listen to her remake of "For The Love Of You" or, probably my favorite song from her, "Just The Lonely Talking Again"? But, then again, "Didn't We Almost Have It All" and "Broken Hearts" were just about as Pop as Pop can get!
"Just The Lonely Talking Again" is a remake of the Manhattan's song. I really only recently noticed that she has at least one or 2 remakes on all her albums.

"Just The Lonely Talking Again" is a remake of the Manhattan's song. I really only recently noticed that she has at least one or 2 remakes on all her albums. I think that was her formula (until the "Just Whitney" album). Not a bad one. Some of the remakes, I didn't know were remakes until I learned later. I didn't know that "All The Man I Need" was a remake until I heard the Sister Sledge version one night on the Quiet Storm in my area. I don't recall it getting airplay where I grew up (besides, I was never a big Sister Sledge Fan either). I'll admit also that I didn't know "Just The Lonely Talking Again" was a remake until my Dad and Uncle told me (when the album was out). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

SHOCKING FACTS: So Emotional was written & composed by the same then-husband & wife duo that later became Boy Meet Girl (the group with their only USA hit Waiting For A Star To Fall). Actually I got that wrong. They did indeed write "I wanna dance with somebody" (one of those uber 80's songs that still gets played today), but the other song was "how will I know", and not "So emotional". Makes sense as they both sound quite similar. I never liked "so emotional". Just kinda annoying.

I recently heard an old Rick Dees' countdown and they had these two on...I'm pretty sure they had some Whitney song on the countdown as well....not sure if it was "I Wanna" or "So Emotional" but they mentioned that fact.

SHe did do one on Just Whitney too. She did "You Light Up My Life". Don't tell VainAndy
