This was originally on their debut cd, but then rereleased on their last cd

This is one of DeBarge's KEY CUTS!!!!! El & Bunny shows us how talented they really are as a group of singer/songwriters/producers. I just love this song and love to sing it. Its simple and just love the mesh of voices of this underrated GEM. It must be a fav of the DeBarge clan because it had to be recorded twice.

I am not sure it was recorded twice. The version off the "Rhythm of the Night" album had a different ending, but it could have been some takes of the original recording.

I wasn't familiar with the DeBarge debut album; I discovered this song from their "Greatest Hits" of Cd, WOW. The last 1 min & 50 seconds of "Share My World" is breathtaking.,, I love the "call and response". You can always tell singers/musicians who were bought up in the Church. El and Bunny could've had careers entirely on their songwriters talents; it's unfortunate personal foibles hampered their endless possibility's.

music Thanks.

Bunny's voice always bothered me, esp on this track. She has this 1970s gospel voice that never really fit into the 80s. Her voice always reminds of some 70s diva and I can never remember who. El and Bunny were great songwriters. They worked so well together. I wish someone would post the version of this song from the Rhythm of the Night Lp. It's much better.

Bunny voice has grown on me, but I think she falls into that category either you like her voice or you hate it. lol I'm sure you've heard the NPR/Detroit interview she gave a year or two ago (including Chico) and the host of the show asked her to sing her favorites DeBarge songs:"Love Me In A Special Way", acapella. Bunny soprano pipes were just a tad "less bright"..deeper even? I'm sure age and life help give her voice more resonance. IMHO.

How is "Share My World" on the "Rhythm of the Night" LP different from the version we've heard here?

I think there is a different bridge and the ending is different.

Yeah, Bunny's voice sounds deeper these days, which is a good thing.

OK. I'm going to download it from iTunes, right now. If it's one in the same you owe me .99 cents. wink

Yeah, they're one in the same. The only difference is the later versions of these songs have been cleaned up/digital remastered and the "DeBarge Greatest Hits" gives you two more seconds than the "Rhythm Of the Night" version. Go with the one on G.H. if wanna download.

Thanks. I have the song on Greatest Hits and ROTN. They're both the same. I didn't even notice the 2 extra seconds! lol I do have an edited version of the song on 45 though. Flip side of "The Heart is Not So Smart"... cool

I have Bunny as a friend on Myspace. Do you think she would answer personal questions about the making of that song?

Hey, she may. The DeBarge's have a pretty cool rep about being accessible/nice to their fans or people who like their music. Some folks don't like being called a fan. If Bunny replies, please, comeback and tell us about it. She cowrote a song or two for Switch as well.

DeBarge is underrated.
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I am a fan, but I was also told that a bridge was added to the second version-I didn't know it was recorded twice. And do not tell me what I should and shouldn't know. I am a fan of the group, not an encyclopedia on them.

There isn't a bridge on the ROTN version. The only thing is I've never heard the Debarge debut album version that came out in '81. But I'm hearing it's the same. I really need to get my hands on that album to satisfy my curiosity.

I sure will. I did send her a message last night. I doubt she'll reply though. She has A LOT of friends and hasn't checked her page since the 18th.

That's okay. But when you say the first version, do you mean the one from the first Debarge album from '81 or Rhythm of the Night? If the one you posted from youtube is from the first album then it's exactly the same as the version from Rhythm of the Night! biggrin

From my understanding, El re-edited the track for the Rhythm of the Night album. Also, Bunny stated in the Unsung special that they were called in to do background vocals on ROTN and that was it. The rest was El and some studio singers.
