I don't know about Prince's IQ, but though he seems to be very intelligent, I read that MJ's and Madonna's IQ is pretty high.

Except that chart is for the FANS of each, not the artist themselves.

sigh Back to the Beyonce heap with you.

Lost track for a moment, but do you mind saying what you mean about the Beyonce comment?

I take issue with this study, which doesn't mention Prince, Michael Jackson or Madonna.

For real, the most intelligent people on Earth, except for those Madonna types. They're merely tolerated. pat

And for that matter, where are Cher, Bette Midler, and Tina Turner?

This is a ver very interesting study! I never heard of such a thing..but as with society I expect people who listen to Beethoven to be "smarter" and people that listen to jazz to be more "stylish and soulful" and people that listen to rock to be more "against the world". I DO expect people who listen to most of todays rap to be less insightful about anything special in the world to be honest.

With that said...i think I like all 3 of Lil Waynes Rock tunes. Amazing Girl, Prom Queen and Hot Revolver are so much different than todays rap. It's like he's having a Kanye moment. Amazing Girl has all these weird vocal effects with auto tune and the uptempo beat with live instruments ass so much depth. Other entertainers need to take note of Puffy, Kanye and Waynes styles. They are branching out...growing.
I really do appreciate what they are doing..and not being so scared.

i agree. this is really interesting and there is probably some truth to it as well.

by the way, where did you hear all the lil wayne rock tracks. i've heard 2 so far. i really am intrigued by his new direction.

What disappoints me is that really smug Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens fans can use this to support their snobbery lol

In my opinion, I believe these studies should be more personality oriented than intelligence. My daughter likes Lil Wayne, and she's a 'A' student at middle school. I don't care for him nor Ludacris because I can't figure out what they're saying and they're not my cup of tea. I am more into pop, easy listening and jazz music, but I left college in 2006, didn't graduate yet with a 4.0 average. My grades were lower than that over 20 years ago because of distractions in life, and music didn't play a part in it. To add, you would be amazed that there are such young men and women out there who are Lil Wayne fans, and pulling a 'A' average in school.

That study is funny but you should not take it serious. I gotta admit i'm full of prejudgements when it comes to musical taste: Jazz and Classic guys have to be smart and elitary, Beatles have just a good taste, Stones fans are rebellious, modern MJ fans (not the ones from the 70s and early 80s) are dumb and Madonna has only got gay fans.Oh, and whoever screams at boygroup has no brain and pubes or tits!

Of course this is completely BS, but sometimes it seems to me that way.

I'm going to put it this way: I was a teenager when "Thriller" album came out and my daughter is in her early teens.

I am not illiterate, I hold a masters degrees and a teching diploma, and have an IQ of 130, its just I type fast and sometimes can't be bothered giving it a spellcheck. Plus you read my message in correctly. In no way did I say all rap was stupid, which is what you are suggesting I said. I said gangsta crunk rap, a sub family of rap and unfortunately the form most heard on the charts.
As far as I am concerned, rap is a debased form of music anyway, how can you compare a semi literate, drug fuelled criminal swearing to a drum machine beat and talking shit to the high art of Beethoven, Mozart or other people who have spent years becoming experts on music and learning their instruments. I liked rap as a teenager but like most people with a triple digit IQ grew out of it and listened to real music for once.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

lol but them and Beethoven appeal to a more limited range of people than, say, the Beatles or Bob Marley. There are Beatles fans that are as smart as Beethoven fans, but there are also Beatles fans as dumb as Lil Wayne fans. But Radiohead & Beethoven fans are (without exception) DORKS! lol

And "smart" & "dumb" are actually totally inappropriate words, come to think of it. Beethoven fans score better on standardized tests is all. It doesn't mean they're actually smarter.
