The first time I ever heard "Damn" on the radio, I thought it was a Wendy & Lisa song

When the DJ said who it was I was like "who?"

I wound up getting 3 of her cd's eventually.

She's good, she should've had more hits.

I heard this song about a week ago in a grocery store.

It was the first time I'd heard it in years.

It was then that it finally hit me that the song has somewhat of a Princey type of vibe, with the harmonies.

Even some of the lyrics in that one sound like something he would come up with...stuff like "tonight I'll be your mother" and The Rolling Stones reference too....we all know how much Princey loves that song "Miss You" by The Stones.

Although if he covered this one now he'd probably say "Dag I wish I was your lover," cuz Damn is a dirty word now. Graffilthy...unless of course he decides to sing "Damn You" off the "Funny Lookin Thang" album from 1992, in which case he'll leave the word alone.

I just found the "banned" version of this video clip....it's quite laughable by today's standards!

Looks like she's even wearing a diaper at one point.

I should mention that for those 3 cds, that came in a nice digipack INSIDE a nice tin, the total cost was about $14. I am quite enjoying this set.

Apparently what happened with the video was, Sophie went & filmed the one I posted earlier and then when her label, Sony Music saw what she'd done, they forced her to shoot the other one with the band backing her up cuz they thought the original video was too risky. Acccording to the comments on YouTube, it was indeed played on MTV for a split second, but then....I don't know, it must've been pulled after a while. I can't see anything risky about this video, but then again, it was a different time. Yes, the song is about her being with another woman - at one point she even says something along the lines of, "I lay down by the ocean making love to HER." I doubt that had anything to do with it being banned as it wasn't the song itself, just the video.
