I swear the Doobies don't get nearly enough recognition as they deserve 4 the music they laid down (hint, hint Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame).....I heard that a lot of the Doobies old fans were turned off when Michael McDonald joined the band, but they must've forgot that him and Jeff Baxter were taught Versatility 101 by Professors Donald Fagen and Walter Becker of Steely Dan University. wink

It is a deceptively sad song. I love it.

George Michael's version. I don't think his phrasing is great, but this is a rare example of a perfectly written song, where no matter the singer, the song is still great. Aretha Franklin also did a version of this, but I can't find it on youtube.

This is a brilliantly written song and it's a big sentimental favorite.

The lyrics really get to me now. It's a great example of a song from a time when lyrics meant something.

That was funny... lol

This one's funnier!! How Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin'" was sampled for Warren G's "Regulators"!! falloff

So Cary Simon did a cover of You Belong To Me.
Did the Doobie Bros. back her on this track?

The tune was co-written by Michael McDonald and Carly Simon.
It was recorded by The Doobie Brothers (Livin' on the Fault Line) in 1977 and then by Simon (Boys in the Trees) in 1978.

If you check the credits on Simon's album, it seems that the musicians included everybody but The Doobie Brothers.

NoW that, I don't know. Probably not, though. It does not sound like them.
