biggrin Kool! didn't know she ever hooked up with them!

That does look like Victor Bailey on the bass! and David is master on the guitar!

That breakout tune has always been a favorite...

and the Gary Taylor -penned tune, I'm Coming Back...she did her version years before Lalah Hathaway's version, on her debut...not sure if Gary ever recorded his own version....

I think she was touring with Chaka as a background singer around this time.

This woman is one of my all time favorite vocalists. Too bad she never really got a fair-shake in the industry.

Great vocalist, but too much of a Chaka-copycat, which I think hurt her career.

I don't necessarily think sounding like Chaka hurt her career. There were a slew of great R&B female vocalists that came out in the mid-80's that had relatively short careers because they did not have a Clive Davis backing them. I always said if Whitney did not have him, she would have eventually faded into obscurity. There were several singers who came along at the same time as Nippy who were much stronger singers, including Vesta. Unfortunately, Vesta and the rest were relegated to black radio with very little to no exposure on Pop radio so their music was not heard by the masses.
