Never cared much for this song. Price was writing a lot of weird stuff for other artists around that time. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Prince wanted to be Quincy Jones, but his problem was he wrote those songs with HIMSELF in mind as opposed to those artists in mind.

her delivery was pretty wack on the studio version. silly cartoon voices and stuttering and shit. the snippet she did with rosie gaines and stephanie mills on that soul train awards show was waaaay better. even tho prince's outfit was straight out of a sprite commercial.

Prince & Sheena Easton wrote "Love '89" for Patti which appeared on the same album as "Yo Mister". I like Yo!

Plus,I think that,in the early 80s,he had a larger amount of great songs to give away to others.By the time "Yo Mister came out,the well was running dry.

This was around the time Prince's music was starting to take a nose dive, when i first heard this i was shocked he was he was able to put something somewhat original and cool again.
Great song, love the dissonant chords and structure.

I must admit i liked it. I thought it was probably the wildest thing
patti did since Lady Marmalade. I guess i'm the oddball here. Don't laugh at my funk

Great song, love the dissonant chords and structure. Between the beat, the dissonance, the delayed rock guitar -- I was too enraptured by the sonic landscape of the song to care about the weird lyrics.

I also dug the cool weirdness CK's 12" "Sticky Wicked" especially the end with Miles Davis saying something like.. "ughhhh ughhhh, dont that sound like some sort of crow or something?" Im so glad they kept the original on the Greatest Hits CD. I want to hear the 12" Prince version. I hear HORNS at the end??? Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I like the album version quite alot. Its catchy enough and is one of the highlights off her "be yourself" album. Its pretty uncommerical though, so God knows why they thought a single would be a hit.
Bytheway, the album version is remixed by Timmy Regisford. He remixed Bobby Browns "dont be cruel" amongst others, so full credit can't be given to Prince.

Wish it would have been replaced with "Everybody Needs Some Love", which was the B-Side to "Baby Me". Guess they felt "Everybody" wouldn't fit in with the rest of "C.K." because it was a hard-edged Rock song. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
