Electric Circus - Oh my! Ooh, I got two new CDs yesterday - Electric Circus by Common and Phrenology by the Roots. Listening to Common now...
I'm not 100% sure, but on first listen I think it is fucking brilliant. Not what I expected at all. It's a harder listen than LW4C I reckon, it'll take some time to grow on me, but still - WOW. | |

the album's been called everything from "absolute shite" to "a classic"; after a couple of spins i've come to like it, but not love it.. though i gotta say 'jimi was a rock star' is cool! don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine

Yeah, I quite like it when an album receives such a mixed bunch of responses... it means there's probably something interesting in there worth hearing! I guess anyone who expected it to be like "Like Water for Chocolate" or "Someday it'll all make sense" might be disappointed. There's no real radio-friendly hits on the album either which might put certain listeners off. I'm loving it though. | |
