no. he came close the last time he appeared as a musical guest. the buzz was that there'd be part of the "prince show" sketch where fred armisen looks in the mirror, and the image in the mirror would be the REAL prince, and there'd be some kind of goofy joke told. if i remember correctly, the skit was written so if fred looked in the mirror and there was no prince, he'd be prepared to continue without the benefit of the man's cameo appearance.
and of course, there was no (real) prince in the skit. that may all be purple urban legend, but that's the story as i remember it... | |
