to pull out the albums mentioned in here that I own I played Madame X last night and I cannot believe I've had that album for close to 2 years and never paid attention... there was alot of earcandy on there It's one of the best late-80s R&B albums.I've been hooked on it ever since I got it in 1987.The music is edgy and very interesting, with alot of attitude and funk. It's a shame that they didn't do any more albums. This was a cool concept.

Cinema: Cinema 6. http://theheaviestfunkint...ong-house/ All time classic of Minneapolis funk. Actually, no, scrub that. All time classic minimalist electronic soulful funk album. Jesse Johnson: Every Shade of Love. The Heaviest and Bestest. These are utterly essential. After that, I don't know. 'Life According to Bernadette Cooper' was good, whoever suggested that. [Edited 3/10/09 7:25am] Just downloaded that Cinema album. It's tremendous. Never heard of them before. It's one of finest MPLSound albums ever. Thanks for link.

For some new fresh MPLSound check out The Neon Romeoz.
Their 6 song EP is on Itunes and it's funky. Really does sound like it was recorded in the mid 1980's

I guess before when I listened, the Mazarati album had too much of a rock sound to me, compared to basically any other "MPLS" album listed here, and I was expecting something different.
But, knowing to expect that rock fusion when I listened to it today, yeah that album is tight. [Edited 3/14/09 19:56pm]

But, knowing to expect that rock fusion when I listened to it today, yeah that album is tight. when I first got the vinyl (found it for a buck) I played it maybe once didn't go back to it til a discussion about it vs. Parade on here and it's nice I was scared to listen after looking at the artwork LOL but I've come to realize that ANYTHING with that lil paisley print on the album cover is worth hearing because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I agree. The last track is a nice ballad though, but its run of the mill stuff. Excellently produced mind you. If your a huge jam and lewis fan though, its worth a listen. "Dance out of my head" is OK I suppose.
