Today, Ryan Seacrest confirmed on his radio show that next week's American Idol Top 13 special will be Michael Jackson themed (this was also reported by various Idol sources). Each contestant will have to perform a cover of one of Michael Jackson's hits. This is the first time that there has been an entire show dedicated to Michael Jackson music, although contestants have regularly done covers of his famous songs (usually to the dismay of judges, who consider Michael Jackson songs to be some of the most difficult to cover well). Americans are encouraged to tune in next Tuesday night for 13 unique covers of Michael Jackson favorites! "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. http://www.thesun.co.uk/s...302221.ece MICHAEL JACKSON's London gig announcement has sent sales of his classic albums soaring higher than his high-pitched voice. Web retailer Play.com saw a 110 per cent increase in purchases of Bad overnight with Dangerous up 165 per cent. It follows Jacko's revelation that he'll perform 10 gigs at the O2 this July. The 25th Anniversary version of Thriller was also flying off the virtual shelves up 155 per cent while 1979's Off The Wall recorded the biggest increase of 200 per cent. A Play.com spokesman said: “With the King of Pop back in the UK it seems that music is back in the hearts of British MJ fans.” Brilliant

I really agree with this statement, and its very accurate.

As a long time fan I have to say it's great to see that MJ has ventured out without the trademark MASK. Doing so will undoubtedly help his image and help make people see Michael as "accessible" again. Let's hope the mask is gone for good. Swa "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

Yeah the Zorro mask was stupid.
I really think it helps his image, when he doesn't resort to those disguises- otherwise people think he's insane, crazy, mental, nuts, freak, out of touch etc. etc- which they do anyway , but he look a little more normal in people's eyes when he dresses up properly and doesn't cover his face. If he goes out more often like this, he'll get more positive news. [Edited 3/6/09 21:50pm]

Dude, you're gonna have a heart attack! Crazy crowds like that freak me out, especially nowadays, you never know when some wack-job is gonna pull a gun or have people get crushed by the pushing. Remember when Prince's first O2 show made Ultimate go to #6 on the UK album charts? I guess all of MJ's records will be on the chart on the first show week!

Again not trying to be mean, but I just got that impression from video footage I've seen of them chasing MJ around, and the Bucharest concerts where fans are fainting and are be taking away in stretchers. Why you guys are criticizing Mj fans now, what is the difference between those fans and his fans from the 80's? The difference is ZERO. He still gains attention, your criticizing of Mj fans right now is because they still stick to MJ despite all that shit that happened in his life, nothing more, nothing less. I don't think people were calling MJ fans crazy back in the 80's , I just hate the double standard. Absolutely. On point response. People (not only fans) have always gone crazy when they see Mike. Remember when he appeared at the virgin signing('91,'92??) how he closed down Time Square? People (non-fans) were dodging traffic to get close. And when I was a kid, we all had the glove, hat, glittering socks. Why do fans have to be crazy NOW??? There've always been the impersonators, in the 80s, they were massive.
