I got a question for UK orgers, Is the o2 more popular than Earl's Court and the Wembley facilities?

The O2 has a capacity of 22/23k if a gig is 'in the round' 18k if you set the stage at one end (i think), Wembley arena and Earls court are smaller.

Have they become less successful?

I would say so, but they still hold gigs. don't get Wembley Arena confused with Wembley Stadium, that holds 80k

^^Part 3 will be an acoustic set, with Michael sitting on a stool for this entire segment.Maybe he could get Carlos Santana to make a special appearance for "Whatever Happens",and have Stevie appear for "I Can't Help It",for at least one of the shows.

Would you go to the Vegas dates when and if they're announced?

I think there is a possiblity that he would do the vegas shows biggrin , but i think he should release the new album first, i don't think mj would tour without something to promote, I expect the new album In June, I could be wrong tho lol

Is there any realistic sign that he'll release a new album? I thought this tour has to purpuoses: Making money (to pay his bills) and getting good publicity and gaining a new audience.
Sales of Thriller and Number Ones certainly will increase massively during his stay.
Fingers crossed Thriller will reach the 200 Mio sales soon!!

I highly doubt that he is doing these concerts when he has nothing to promote, im telling you this because this has always been mj's strategy ,you always see Mj goes on tour when he has a new album out already, maybe he changed his strategy eek , maybe the album will be released after the concerts just like what he did with MSG 30 anniversary.....I hope we get more info from the press conference...but im sure that there gonna be a new album.

is this for real? what happened to freedom of speech? why are mj's threads being locked and put in this one folder, this is a stupid idea, it will only confuse topics and end up in a big mess, i cannot believe you mods are actually abiding by those whiny little babies who don't even have to click in the mj threads, nobody forced them to come in the thread why don't you guys tell them to grow up and keep moving if the don't like it, instead of destroying other people threads?

I tried to warn you guys lol Last week, someone started a thread titled "MJ Overkill" and posted it in the Site Discussion forum, but instead of showing a little restraint, some of you kept starting new MJ threads (lol). And now, when there is actually some real news to discuss, you're left with this one sticky shrug

I see that you started a thread asking where is the Madonna sticky.I think, for the most part, the Madonna threads aren't out of control.Lately,Michael and DeBarge have been discussed here alot more than Madge.I'm probably the biggest Madonna fan on this site, but even I have no need to start threads about her unless there's something relevent and newsworthy to discuss (such as a new album or tour).Just relax and chill out.For now, this sticky will be the place to discuss the upcoming tour.Other fans, such as bboy87,seem to have no problem with this.

I can't believe people are complaining when we've been putting up with this ish for years. It's about time. Now we know exactly where to go instead of sorting through multiple threads. Michael's touring? Want info on it? Go to the MJ thread. Seems simple enough especially if you're not going to an actual MJ site. Change is good.

SoulAlive, now you can really dream about that setlist you've always wanted. It amy actually take place. lol

The o2 so far has the best all round sound and stage settings ...it's not fully opened yet so they have room to expand what they do, so ...this is the reason its done so well ....and Prince was really the first big star to test the place out and he liked it so they must be doing somthing right... biggrin

I really like parts 2 & 3. My only concern is that YRMW is sorta anticlimatic to end with because of it's slow tempo. I might've switched with RTT or ended with another song but not sure what... maybe end with YRMW then encore with RTT?

I was trying to think of a really big, classic, uptempo song to close with, but I realized that I used up all of his 'classic' hits already lol "You Rock My World" is all I could think of.It was his last hit single but you're right....it is sorta anticlimatic because of its slow tempo.

Maybe I could switch things around and use "Billie Jean" as the big finale? hmmm

How times have changed: Only a handful of fans wait to see Michael Jackson as he plans to announce London gigs

In his heyday, Michael Jackson's arrival to London would have commanded hoards of screaming fans desperate to catch a glimpse of him.

But after touching down in the capital yesterday ahead of announcing a UK comeback, just a handful of people lined the streets outside his hotel today hoping to see the fallen popstar.
eek eek eek
The U.S singer will take over London’s O2 arena for two months this summer after signing a deal worth more than £100 million, it has been revealed.

The 50-year-old star, who will formally announce the concerts at the venue tomorrow, will earn the extraordinary amount for the residency scheduled for June and July.

The deal, which a source said could go 'up to 50 nights', was hammered out this week following months of negotiations between the singer’s representatives and AEG, operators of the 20,000 seater-venue.

Promoter Harvey Goldsmith also played a key role.

They will be the only concerts Jackson performs in the world this year and tickets will be priced from £75 upwards.
They are his first major performance since his acquittal on child abuse charges in 2005.

It will be the longest run of shows by any one act since the venue beneath the former Millennium Dome opened in 2007.

It is the type of deal which until now had only been seen in Las Vegas, where both Elton John and Celine Dion have had long-running residencies which were established by Frank Sinatra.
A source is quoted as telling London's Evening Standard that Jackson negotiations have involved a series of ‘creative commercial opportunities’ connected to the residency, which could include a new album being given away free to fans, a share in merchandise sales and an official DVD of the shows. biggrin biggrin biggrin

The ‘King of Pop’ is said to be finally putting the finishing touches on his first new album since 2001, and has collaborated with songwriters Kanye West, Will.I.Am and Ne-Yo.

The source continued: 'Michael Jackson will not be playing anywhere else in the world so there will be huge demand for tickets.

'The exact number of dates are not finalised yet but could go up to 50. He will have no problem selling out that many shows.' eek eek Jackson performs on stage during the 2006 World Music Awards in London in November 2006

AEG are thought to have received reassurances about Jackson’s health after he was photographed in Las Vegas just before his fiftieth birthday last August, dressed in pyjama trousers and looking gaunt.
When Jackson last appeared in London at the World Music Awards in 2006 he looked frail and was only able only to mime to a few bars of We Are The World before leaving the stage.

The source added: 'Performing live is what Michael Jackson does best and he is a professional entertainer.

'He wouldn’t be going in to this if he wasn’t feeling 100 per cent up to it.'

The lucrative tour will be a welcome boost to the singer who is reportedly over £100 million in debt.

He is also clearing out his Neverland Ranch in an auction next month.

Over 2000 items - including the property’s gates - will go under the hammer during the five-day sale in Beverley Hills.

Amongst the items being sold are the sequined glove he wore in the 'Billie Jean' video, a customised Harley Davidson and a Rolls Royce limousine.
In 2007, Prince performed a 21-night stint of sell out shows at the 20,000 seater-venue and gave away his new album free to fans - a promotions which proved to be a great success given the decline in music sales.
The Outside Organisation, the agency which represents Jackson declined to comment.

AEG declined to comment.

How about this innovative setlist for his concerts?

Jam - firstly he's just standing their for 5 minutes and pretends to be a statue. Suddenly he takes off his sun glasses and begins to dance to Jam.

Wanna Be Startin Somethin'

He could do a full dance routine with 5 dancers, all dresses terribly?

Beat It

Michael shouts and screams from a crane

Billie Jean

MJ wears a hat. Then he smashes it away when the music starts. At one point he pretens to be combing his hair, later he does the moonwalk and after a quick twirl he could stand on his toes

You Are Not Alone

MJ poses Jesus-like. Because of his posing it would be too much to sing the song live

J5-Medley

Man, that's what we want. I discovered one could medley ABC, Stop The Love You Save and I Want You Back.

Thriller

Mike appears with werewolf mask on the stage! With dozens of dancers he'll do a complicated dance routine

he could throw in other never performed song like Black Or White?!

Yeah, I thought about Billie Jean too. At one point I would have thought of Shake Your Body but that’s not happening. lol I think BJ is good. No one is going home until they hear it.

Exactly.That's the ultimate encore song.

Some other songs that I considered for my setlist, but couldn't squeeze it in:

"Workin' Day and Night"
"The Way You Make Me Feel"
"Got To Be There" (as part of the acoustic segment)
"Will You Be There"
"She's Out Of My Life" (as part of the acoustic segment)

Wacko backo..... biggrin
SUPERSTAR MICHAEL JACKSON arrives in Britain yesterday to announce plans for his £150million comeback.
The king of pop flew in secretly on a private jet from Los Angeles with his children.

It was his first trip to the UK since 2006 and a dozen security guards tried to shield him from public view as he stepped off the plane.
