DeBarge Fans: Guess what I just found & bought!

I was looking for something else, Bunny's solo Cd ("In Love") on eBay. On a lark I typed in Bobby DeBarge's name and his solo Cd, "It's Not Over" popped up. I was the only bidder and I had 52 seconds left. "I'm as happy as possum grease on a grill"! lol

Yeah, it was his only solo album. I heard this Cd s in it's entirety some months back (some guys site, I couldn't find it again) and it sounds so fresh/ so current. A true testament to this guys talents as a producer, singer, and songwriter. I can't wait to get it. biggrin

Tracks List:

01 - Good Times (4:44)
02 - Let You Know (5:11)
03 - Never Meant to Hurt You (4:38)
04 - It's Not Over (4:44)
05 - Thief in the Night (5:39)
06 - Something About Your Lovin' (4:19)
07 - Taste of Your Love (4:08)
08 - Feel Real Good (5:32)
09 - Like Heaven (5:30)
10 - Good Times (Instrumental) (4:53)

It's a shame that he didn't pursue a solo career after leaving Switch. He was an amazing singer!

Sadly, his demons with his drug addictions didn't allow him to really pursue it.

I heard two songs off this and didn't care for them. All his siblings but El worked on the cd. Bunny and Chico wrote some tracks. He did a solo cd for Motown that was never put out. Rumor is the tracks have been lost.

Though my goal was to post my own music on U-Tube this year: I'll upload Bobby's Cd so everyone can hear it. I like every song with the exception of "Taste Of Your Love"... it's the weakest song out of the bunch.

hmmm Some sites are saying this album/Cd was never released. Duh, Soul recalled seeing it in a record store and I've bought it. What gives?

I love that song, I saw the video that was made on Youtube. Bobby's voice was weak but still brilliant

Yeah, Bobby's voice sounds pretty bad on that song, which I think sounds VERY dated.

It was definitely released.I saw it at Star Records in 1995.That's a small, independent record store that was popular here in the Bay Area. Not sure if the bigger chains carried it,though.

Yahoo DeBargefamily forum member told me this.

It was released 1995 in the months following Bobby's passing. The record label A&E(now defunct) was small and the production run quite minimal, which is why the album is such a rare find.

Without the promotional backing you get from a major label and with Bobby not around to promote it through touring, it pretty much went unnoticed with the music public. What a shame as there are some wonderful songs.

Tracking down the rights to the material has been a major obstacle to getting a re-release of the CD.

This album should not be confused with material Bobby recorded for his solo deal with Motown in the 1980s, which was never released.

Hope this helps answer your questions. Enjoy the Music!
