Beyonce Will Never Retire

Nice cover. Reminds me of Vanessa Williams throwback.

On her Business decisions“I turn down million dollar offers all the time because it’s something that does not feel true for what I’m trying to say. I have to be passionate about it. Love inspires and growth inspires me…If it is not going to be iconic, something I can love 10 years from now, I’ve learned I should not waste my time with it.”

On staying out of Jay-z’s business dealings
“He was very successful before I met him and I was very successful before I met him. So we have so much respect for each other, and respect for each other artistically. We are very close friends, and I believe he is the ultimate artist and he has the same feelings for me.”

One thing she does to get on his nerves
“I’m a little messy. Oh, yeah. Whenever I’m out in public, I have to be put together. When I get home, I rebel against it and I don’t want to take care of anything. I drop it. I’m relaxed. I don’t have any shoes on. No makeup. My purse is in the kitchen. I think that is most difficult thing for him. He’s very, very organized. I’m extremely organized when I’m working, and I work so much that when I get home I don’t want to think about anything.”

When asked to describe herself as a wife:
“I don’t know how to talk about it because I don’t like to talk about it. But I have a great example of a great wife, and that’s my mother. And I have great friends around me that have been married, so I’m lucky to have really good examples. And a great husband.”

On claiming she would retire at 21“I’ve worked so hard on my craft, and I will never stop. I will never retire. I love it way too much.”

Trust me, when the bottom falls out, and she is hit with tons of cash to do a retirement tour and then hit with more cash to do a coming out of retirement tour and album she will be a retiring fool.

So then why did she record "Diva"?

I'm not mad at Beyonce, but her father needs to stop pulling her strings. I'm just saying...

I don't think it's a matter of hatin' for many of us....some us would just like to see other young black women represent out there for mainstream music, commercial endorsements, and so on. I don't even live in the United States any more, but in all sincerity Beyonce is the "de facto" face they use to represent black American female culture overseas...on tv guides, stock photos on the covers of fashion mags..for me, 7,000 miles away I need RELIEF. I want to hear more of Taraji P.Henson' Oscar nom... or what about all of our black women out there releasing indie music,or owning proctuction comapnies that put out good film work? I haven't even seen or heard Beyonce's newest music or film projects because my tastes are a bit different, but honestly, I could still use a break, man. Just from the commercial overload alone i am quite fatigued of her.

....additionally some of us Old Skoolers find it in poor taste when our Youngins, no matter how beautiful or sucessful they are, have that rather unflattering tendency to hit the media circuit flinging around self aggrangandizing terms as "iconic" .It bespeaks of a swelled head and disrespect for those who suffered long before you, and long
after you to pave the way for your success...Imagine such words coming out of the mouths of Ruby Dee, Sidney Poitier, Diahann Carrol, Cicely Tyson or Shirley Horn at her age. Not flattering in the least, in my view...

...I hear statements like this and wish that both she and the likes of Kanye West would get a swift kick in the toukas, but I suppose that's me being old fashioned and behind the times where humility is concerned wink
