P.E. raised all kinds of hell over that track. They were NOT cool with Madonna stealing from them. I remember several interviews where they spit venom at her and Lenny over this song. When asked about it, Lenny said "It was just a track we found laying around on the studio floor" That was one of the things that made me dislike Lenny back then because I knew he was lying. Ew he said that? I can't think of a more blatant jack move outside of Ice Cube "Jackin' For Beats"

It's incredibly hot without being too explicit. Also, it opened the door for female singers appearing in sexual videos. It's impact shouldn't be underestimated.
I agree with SoulAlive that the video and its ban helped the song to be a #1 hit, it's not exactly a commercial pop song, quite a "novelty" hit.

Never said they were cool with it, just said that they didn't sue. I just think it's funny that they were pissed at an unlicensed sample of their unlicensed sample. I always thought it kinda funny that they got so pissy about it. They've done it plenty, and I didn't care. Anyway, still love the song and the video. This was my favorite Madonna era. I stayed up LATE to watch her interview on Nightline with Forrest Sawyer, because they were going to show the video. But in the end you're going to make more money than you would have? Yeah, so lucky me. I crawled under my own table.

The way I remember it, she said, "I don't sing that song, I speak that song. That song is just speaking...and fucking."
