They need an album, forget a tour. Right now everyone is trying to book tours before albums are even done because $$ is so tight now, people wont be doing many multiple concerts. But with U2,Bruce,Coldplay,Britney,Elton,Billy and a host of others already booked in, its a race "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Yes, but No Doubt is in a slightly different situation than most bands. They haven't been working together because Gwen was off doing her solo music. I think doing a tour before the new album is a good idea to get back into the groove of working together and reestablish the chemistry of the band. Often when groups reform after a long time apart, they do a tour first before they try working on a new album for that reason. So they aren't like U2 or Coldplay who never were apart from each other.

I wouldn't mind seeing them but I wouldn't mind a new album either. I'll probably check them out at Jones Beach. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

True but i think you gotta work new stuff in there quite a bit because then its just really a best of tour. But one thing I HOPE happens is that NO Gwen solo shit is played, thats more of what im getting at, if they conform on that, waste of time. I don't think they would play any of Gwen's solo work. Her solo work is more electronic and programmed and so wouldn't fit into what they do as a band. She always said that's the reason she did solo music so she could do a different kind of music that wouldn't fit into what the band does because the programmed stuff would exclude the band. So I can't see them doing any of her solo music.
I don't believe she did many if any No Doubt songs on her solo tours so I think she always keep the two things pretty separate. It would be nice to have some new songs, but sometimes it's hard to play new stuff live if people haven't had a chance to hear it before. It often goes down like a lead balloon. Also, doing a tour is testing the waters to see if people are still interested in them. There's no point in spending tons of time and money on a new album if no one cares anymore. No Doubt (album wise) need to do something very important, lose the mainstream. They really need to go back to their roots, and im NOT talking "Tragic Kingdom" by any means, i mean back back. Get back to being a solid band again "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I thought they were a good commercial pop/rock band. I really liked Tragic Kingdom. I don't think they should completely abandon the mainstream of more accesible popish melodic music. Gwen's strength is pop melody. Don't Speak is an amazing song. You can still be a solid band with good musicianship and do pop/rock rather than harder or heavier underground type of music. I'm not too wild on Gwen's solo music but some of her solo songs she wrote with Tony from the band like Early Winter are excellent. I could see them going in that direction.
