I LOVE this song. Whoever flipped the "Lady in My Life" sample did it nice. The B2M crooning wasn't bad, either. I miss when Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B hybrids were this smooth.

Well this is/was the beginning of the end of RB so to speak. The merger of Hip Hop, and RB, which would lead to things like Puffy and Mase with everyone and their mother, and Joe with whatever rapper needed to crossover, LL has admitted that this was a "sell out" to get him back, since BOYZ were the shit at the time

LL was doing that back in the early-1990s with Keith Sweat, lol. Hip-hop and R&B was always merging... the question is what year and who started it? lol

Honestly though people dont like to admit it, Puffy was the creator of it, from his days at Uptown Records and MCA, he brought all this shit together, though it really turned into a monster that basically destroyed both genres, he in that respect was a pioneer

I liked Hey Lover, but I loved LL's Loungin' remix (Ft. Total)

Great songs, back when hip-hop R&B collaborations were actually listenable.

Mannnnn... I just caught so many flashbacks from watching that video. That 2nd half of 1996 was crazy. You had this, Nas/lauryn hill, tony toni tone/dj quik, blackstreet/dr dre, keith sweat's twisted, mint condition's "what kind of man", az yet's "last night" etc.....just a lot of good music.

memories....
