what!? i only count one person that lists 'material girl' as one of their favs. guess i'll be number two. besides that song, i also like 'justify my love', 'human nature', 'take a bow', 'secrets' and.. no, that was about it actually. there are no other madonna songs that were impressive enough for me to mention here. maybe that's because i do not even own one album. but hey.. so what! don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain i'm high, so high

Here's an interesting story about "Don't You Know"...it is one of four songs that appeared on the demo tape that got Madonna signed to Warner Bros. in late 1982.One of the other songs on the tape,"Ain't No Big Deal",didn't appear on the debut album either (it did appear as a B-side).Both songs are strong and catchy and I can't see why they weren't included on her debut album.

I notice that some people site "Pre-madonna" altough its kind of questionable if it is an album proper. I just wonder if anyone liked those "Early Years" Cds. They pop up all the time. I think this year they actually relreleased the same one that had been out for a while. I have two of the same CDs with different covers and I really dislike this CD. Just wondering if anyone else has that CD and does anyone like it?

I would consider the 'Pre-Madonna' CD to be a regular Madonna album, even though she probably didn't approve of it's release. But for the hardcore fan,it's an essential album, containing early demos that are simply amazing to hear.A song like "Laugh To Keep From Crying" shows that Madonna could have easily been a rock singer, while "Crimes Of Passion","Ain't No Big Deal" and the excellent "Don't You Know" are all top-notch dance songs that would have been huge hits back in 1981.

Those "Early Years" CDs by Madonna are HORRIBLE.First of all, these are not Madonna songs at all! In 1979,some idiot producer named Otto Von Wernherr hired Maddy to sing backup for him. After she became famous,he went back and released these early recordings as a "Madonna album",when in fact she only sings a few words on each song.He just loops her words over and over, trying to make fans think these are real songs recorded before she became a star.He adds dreadful background music too.The album has been released numerous times, under different titles (kinda like the 94 East compilations).Songs include "Wild Dancing","Time To Dance","We Are The Gods","Cosmic Climb",etc.I provide this information to warn potential buyers to beware.

As a matter of fact It did appear not on her first album, but on the second one "Like a Virgin", but in different version put attention to the verses in Stay and you'll hear it.

Yeah,I know Madonna used a few of the lyrics from "Don't You Know" on the song "Stay",whcih appears on the 'Like A Virgin' album. But I wish that she had used the original "Don't You Know" on her debut album.I know it would have been a smash!
