There's this story about 2 Navy guys tryna mess with her(this was during the World War years) and one of them made the inevitable mistake of burning his cigarette on her mink fur.

She pulled her gun, put it in his mouth and dragged him & his friend outta the bar, gave the gun to one of her friends, took off her jewelry and whooped their asses untill she floored them on the middle of the street. When the police came, she was wearing her mink, rubbing her hands toghether like she was hurt, and when they looked @ her, she got on her Lady-like act "They tried to rob me"

The worst(I read so far) was when she worked up a Klan's man face with a broken beer bottle for calling her "Nigger winch". Most of her physical fights were with men,,,,the women didn't mess with her because they thought she was "crazy".

The whole opening chapter in Maya Angelou's Heart Of Woman with Billie Holiday staying in her house was priiiiiceless
