knowing that alot of the style change was just being ripped off Inxs's "welcome to wherever you are".

How is that possible? Achtung was released a full year before. confuse

I heard they also blocked the release of Amerie's album in 2003 so that they could put out Achtung Baby first and make everyone think that they started the go-go-pop movement a decade and a half earlier. nod

get on your boots is one of the ugliest songs i have ever heard.
i dispise the song and its a real disappointment. expected more from U2.
apparantly the rest of the album is an improvement, it got great reviews.
but yeah, the song itself, i reckon it f.cking SUCKS! I cant stand it.

A monster flop indeed. All of their previous lead-off singles from the 90s and 00s went to #1 in the UK but this one debuted at #12 and is falling on iTunes...

thats UK

in the USA and Australia the song was on itunes top 100 for a matter of days. aint been back since. a new U2 single to not be in the top 100 downloaded songs in the weeks after its release is really saying something.....

the song is a raging bucket of shit!

Believe me, this is really something coming from me. I am the head U2 hater on the board. For me to really like a new song from them. But, I have to be honest with myself and you, Get On Your Boots is a great song. Really a scorcher. About time Bono..lol

Rolling Stone gave the album 5 stars. Yikes.

I might be your competition 4 the "head U2 hater" here, although it appears that ANX might also be in the running.

Haven't heard the new stuff at all, and probably won't, as I generally tend 2 avoid the World's most overrated musical act EVER, that should have never made it out of the '80s.

Not a U2 fan per se. They've had a couple of songs I liked. but most of them were their big songs from the 80's. But, "Put On You're Boots" is just ...meh. The chorus is just really really bad.

I love the new disc. I don't use the term love lightly, it's a beautiful piece of work from beginning to end.

Artists who keep growing inspire me and this CD is no exception.

Get on Your Boots = snore It's just a chorus built around a played out guitar riff. I wanted to like the other track i heard on monday's Letterman appearance but couldn't get through it.

I learned in my twenties not to judge a piece of art on a single, in context of the album it works well.

Thumbs down for me on the 'Kinky Boots' single, but will get around to getting the album soon.

Last great U2 song for me was 'Sometimes You Can't Make it On your Own'

I did just hear a couple of other tracks, and they sound nothing like Stinky Boots, thank god.

What's the new single called?

I'm not a fan of U2 and Bongo's vocals.

That new U2 single BLOWS! First of all, they need to stop with this, "WE're getting back to our roots!" BS. Just do what you do and don't worry about all that. If we want to hear Boy then we'll spin it. But this newer stuff (and I'm including Vertigo in here too) is like when your dad tries to dress and talk like you do, it just comes off as lame. lol

Yeah i'm not the biggest fan of this song either, the line "sexy boots" really gets on my nerves, really like the bridge though..."meet me in the sound, god i'm going down, i don't wanna drown now, let me in the sound"...Great change up in the bridge..

Pays not to take lead singles too seriously though, i found "beautiful day" and "vertigo" pretty bland, but the albums turned out to be killer.
We're here, might as well get into it.

The song is ok...but the album is killer. I am a pretty big U2 fan. Love Achtung Baby the most, then all the 80s albums (esp War & Unforgettable Fire)and the last two. WASN'T a fan of Pop. This CD is very cool...that is all there is to it. Will be spinnin this one a lot.

The new cd reminds me of The Unforgettable Fire. This one sounds more like a return to their old sound-vibe more than ATYCLB did.

Also, how many times are people gonna rip off the melody to Elvis Costello's Pump It Up?

I agree and I like the album, although I've already said I don't think 'Boots' belongs on the record.

That Get on Your Boots song sucks and I tend to like U2's stuff. This does nothing for me at all.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
