B.E.T's "Out The Box"

Anybody remember that show that used to come on BET called 'Out The Box'? I think it used to come on Saturday nights. They used to show music and videos by artists who were different and unconventional for their time. I used to watch that show heavily. That was the first place they showed Kelis 'Caught Out There'. I remember seeing it for the first time and thinking 'what the hell was that?!' then I had to see it again and I fell madly in love with it. They also showed videos by Kool Keith. Anyway, does anybody remember this show?

I did. I don't know which show replaced it though. I was mad though, I think it was the "Uncut" show but I'm not sure because I forgot what time it used to run.

The best video show BET ever had was Video Vibrations. It ran good videos that didn't get airtime. Plus blocks of ALL of the Prince videos that ran once on regular BET/MTV/VH-1 rotation.

Yeah it was cool for the moment they had it on. I recorded almost all the shows.

Damn, I remembered Video Vibrations. When I was like four, they used to play that Madhouse song all the damn time. The one where they robbed the bank. lol

What about Video Soul?

Oh nod, It was a good show, no doubt, but it featured mainly chart toppers/climbers.

VV featuered good artists, or good songs from big artists, that bubbled just below the surface. VV gave a spotlight to underrated gems. That's why I favor VV over VS.

thumbs up! I guess you can say Video Soul was the urban mainstream alternative to Video Vibrations, lol. Video Soul is where all the stars got air time, lol. After you get a lot of airplay on Video Vibrations, you probably be lucky if you did get Video Soul airtime.
