1988 Freestyle gem: Bardeaux "Bleeding Heart"

http://videolog.uol.com.b...?id=169003
whistle

You've been hanging out with someone every night
Did you think I really couldn't see?
Are you really worth the time it takes to fight
Do you think you mean that much to me?

dancing jig

That melody reminds me of "Glamorous Life"

OK I know you guys probably haven't seen a thread on this song before, but this is totally some ORG SCHITT, in all of its cheesy dancy pop glory.

Follow the link to hear the song and watch the video!

One of the singers in Bardeaux was Tairrie B, who went on to release a rap album on Ruthless Records....

I saw you guys talking about her in the "first white female rapper" thread!

Right on. That Youtube video is actually the same version as the other video link I posed... on the 12" it is known as "Bleeding House" and has the 808 drums. The actual song "Bleeding Heart" sounds way more pop and over produced.

It sounded like Freestyle to me.... the mix I like is called "Bleeding House"

and when you follow the link, it refers to it as Miami Bass. That actually makes the most sense considering it is from 1988.

To be really honest, I find the video too cheesy to watch, but I love the song, and I've been using the Youtube on this thread to stream it at work several times today. lol

There was quite a "click" going on at this time, Bardeux and that first record was a classic, then of course some moron decided to ditch one girl and go with a RB edge, DEATHWISH! This was from the same moron who decided that Lisa Lisa needed to get with rap in the sound, and that the Cover Girls needed a "Black" lead singer because "latins" werent marketable, even though the base of "Freestyle" is LATIN!! I mean didnt anyone ever just realize that 99.9% of the "Freestyle" artists were latin,,,,HELLO, no need to change the foundation.

But Bardeux were cool, Jon St.James was in on alot of their work, along with Stacey Q and some others, Jon, actually is good friends with John Crawford, the original BERLIN member who basically broke the ground and brought out Teri Nunn, who is the originator, and who people like Gwen Stefani, and Lady GaGa owe LOTS TOO!

Yeah, I gotta co-sign this. I remember seeing them on Club MTV and picking up the disc shortly after.
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Just so you know, some freestyle artists were also Italian & even a few were black (Joyce Sims, Stevie B, & one of the members of TKA comes to mind).

Other than that, I agree with you. The latin elements of Freestyle must stay in the music at all cost (especially the cowbells!).
