Backstreet Boys

Don't sleep on them folk.

My favorite was Brian Littrell. He has the best voice IMO, with
A. J. McLean second. They were the best looking one too. Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough were alright, I was indifferent with those two. Couldn't stand Nick. I only liked his singing during his verses in 'As Long As You Love Me'. Besides that, something about him was just annoying to me, lol.

Heh. Backstreet. cool

I've made my feelings about the Boys known before in this forum. This is one pop act I will never be ashamed of loving.

Y'know those motherfuckers have ANOTHER album in the works as we speak? Counting releases for the international market, that'll make 7. And as of April 20th, Kevin's departure from the group notwithstanding, they'll have remained intact for 16 years. Considering the normal shelf-life of your average boyband is only about 4 or 5 years from inception to destruction, even those who fancy themselves above this genre have got to cop to a little respect for their staying power. Even the Boys themselves seem befuddled as to how they've done it.

AJ's got a solo album in the works, and he's been threatening to call it Real Men Wear Dresses. I hope he does. lol The music I've heard from it sounds decent enough. Let's hope it fares better than Carter's solo endeavour.smile

Holy crap in a hat, that's an old-ass clip. "When we started four years ago..." falloff

performing I Want it That Way with Sting in, I believe, 2001

performing The One sans AJ, with Elton John

Aagin with Elton, this time at the 200 Grammy's doing Philadelphia Freedom. Some of you non-fans may remember this one smile

Also at the 2000 Grammy's, doing a medley of Backstreet and non-Backstreet music

Making fun of 1980's hair metal in the video for Just Want You To Know. Some truly inspired goofy shit.

Nick makes a really awesome Bret Michaels. lol

I was annoyed with them cause I had so many friends who were fanatics. I play their stuff now way more than I did back then, with my r&b/hip hop loving self. The Call is an amazing song and video, it's the song George Michael should have slept with them all for!

quit playing games, i want it that way and larger than life take me back to days when life was easier, and yet I was a little emo bitch

my friend bought baby one more time cause the edition she bought had an ending trailer where she's promoting the BSB's upcoming work from Millenium. She copied that onto cassette and then returned the CD lol

I could never figure out though if the video for The Call was deliberately subversive and homoerotic, or if it just sort of happened. lol I like to think it was on purpose.

To the OP, I think you've got the wrong video up. That's not them doing End of the Road, that's just the Boys talking. Unless you meant to do that...?confuse

I can´t believe Backstreet boys are still around these days! Boyzone are releasing a new album soon as well. I think it´s true to say that if you are in a successful band when you´re younger, it´s more than likely that you´ll be singing again when you´re older - band comebacks are becoming even more common!! I loved the Take That comeback so hopefully Boyzones will be just as good. Backstreet Boys just finished a Canadian Tour in November.. did anyone go? I´d love to go to a concert!

I did. A damned good show, aside from the opening act. wave

Except it wasn't a Canadian tour, it was the Canadian leg of a world tour. That a boyband can, 15 years going, still sell out a world tour and have such demand as to have to actually ADD dates boggles the mind. eek

Truly impressive, Boys. clapping

Very good, with a poignant backstory. Max Martin wrote it in memory of Denniz Pop, who'd just recently passed at the time. The Boys, having been fond of their former songwriter, agreed to record the tune written in his memory.

Good video too. The bit with Kevin watching old videos of his dad chokes me up everytime I see it. Brian watching himself in intensive care while his heart stops gives me the wiggins though.

nod The Call is still one of my favourite videos, for exactly that reason.

Actually, among other things, the Boys are single-handedly responsible for my love of guy-on-guy, my being a fan of slash fan fiction, and my introduction to that gaytastic flick, Velvet Goldmine. My being a "normal" teenie fan at 12 years old only lasted a few months before I discovered the beauty that is homoeroticism.

That, and that damned groupie who'd sold her story to the National Enquirer, telling in as much graphic detail as the tabloid would allow, all about her 3-way with Carter and McLean. horny

I never heard such story about a groupie, didn't keep up with them like that, just had a lot of fanatic friends, and it was hard not to know their singles with the way they were getting heavy airplay

and yeah I looove the video too, I can watch it over and over and wanted to direct videos after seeing it.

No idea if it's something that can be found, but if National Enquirer happens to have their archives online you should find it around 1998/1999.

I've heard stories from other ladies who do the Groupie Thang that match up more or less with the Enquirer piece. Interesting stuff, if you're nosy like me. lol

thanks, but I really don't care. I liked several of their songs, but I was never a fanatic nor did I fall for them though I thought brian and howie were good looking, I was more of a casual listener and heard enough about them through my peers. I was more into r&b and hip hop that time than teen pop

Thats absolutely pathetic.

All I have to Give is one of the best songs they did. I have their greatest hits from their first album up to Black and Blue, I think, and its such a great album, they had so many catchy songs. Way better than Nsync ever were, but I guess I'm biased as Nsync werent all that big in Australia whereas Backstreet Boys were huge.

There was a song on the backstreet's back album (in america it was called backstreet boys, in Canada, it was their second album) If You Want It To Be Good Girl, and it made me think of Prince. Loved that song!

Oh, it is SO pathetic. I never got to that level, preferring to keep my sanity intact and all.

*N SYNC were bigger in the States, but internationally the Boys have always done better.

The last *N SYNC gig in Vancouver before they split, GM Place only sold to 3/4 capacity. BSB, just this last September, sold out in a matter of hours.

When I was 12, I thought that was such a naughty song. Now it just cracks me up. lol

BTW, if you ever hear of any Boy referring to a "Gawdawful Piece of $hit", that's the song they mean. Seems they don't care for it much.
