Man i'm fed up of people knocking Diana's voice, alright it's not the best, but i find it so damn sexy at times.
I think she's criminally underrated as a vocalist. Said it before and will say it again, beg, steal or borrow 'Blue', her Jazz standards album, released a few yrs ago, after a lifetime in the Motown vaults. I think it's awesome. Would have been a milestone in her career if not for Berry taking her in a pop direction after 'Lady Sings The Blues'. Oh, and 'Diana & Marvin' is great too. [Edited 2/22/09 14:49pm]

No, Smokey's too thin and rattly for me. The first time I saw him was that Apollo special where he sang with George Michael. I thought Smokey was 80 yo allready. Stevie is for hugging.

He's sober and he's got some meat back in his body.

It bugs me that some of you implie that Stevie wouldn't be sweet. I'm not saying sexy like the ultimate male, but he was cute (and his nstill in some way).
I sometimes doubt my taste? I thought Michael was sexy as hell before I went into this forums, and I believed Stevie was considered attractive in the early 70s.

Cool, I like this. It's way more pop than Marvin's solo stuff, no?

Well isn't it a coincidence of who's on the album with him? does Diana's solo stuff sound the same ?(I only know the Diana album of course). was motown into sitars in the mid 70s?

In the '70s? Yes. Diana was a big fan of THE BALLADS (as Marvin was) and most of the songs on her albums pre-The Boss were ballads mostly. After a while, she did start to include dance material in her albums. Motown had sitars on some songs. You could hear the sitar on some of the Jackson 5 recordings in the '70s and in the late-'60s, you could hear it on Stevie's, the Supremes' and the Temptations' recordings.
