Best program to change key of music files?

I need this so desperately, but I don't find an easy for-free program. They don't have to feature much, I just need to convert them into different keys.

Audacity is better. And it's freeware! wink

I use it to make a few Kylie Minogue songs sound like remakes by Rick "Roll" Aisley.

thanks, folks.

I've been told that slow Kylie sounds like George Michael.

But I don't need to slow things down, I need to change keys anyway.

okay folks, I've got a problem now: I downloaded audacity but it works not properly. Most of the features are unable, the letters are grey and when you click on th buttons nothing happens.

What's wrong? I've got version 1.2.6

just use acid like i mentioned in the first place, as it lets you pitch/key shift and timestretch seperately, so you can change the key and keep the tempo the same

You don't slow down the tempo at all. You only change the key of the music itself.

no, but there were 30 day fully work trial versions so you could convert everything you needed. and if you still didn't want to pay for it there are other things you can do that other sites would explain better

it's fairly obvious. as mac users would say so. linux users wouldn't bother asking, and windows users think the world revolves around them

I use Linux (Ubuntu) and Audacity is working great. I used to have Windows XP and Audacity was working great on that at well.

and I'm a Mac user, and Audacity works great on that too!

If the features are disabled, I am thinking it is a soundcard issue.

Cinnie may have a point. Double check your soundcard and be sure that your drivers have been updated.

Drop/drag an wav file within Audacity. You will not be able to use any of the effects unless you have an audio file first.
