lol, I think Madlib just might have more unreleased material than Prince Not too long ago Los Angeles-based promoter/producer Andrew Lojero told me that two of his pals, hip-hop photographers Eric Coleman and B+, own 40 gigs’ worth of unreleased Madlib material. And that’s just what they have, Lojero said, let alone what Otis has given to other people and what he has in his private stash.
Yes, Timbaland may get all the press for being an in-demand producer, working with everybody from Justin Timberlake to Björk, but Madlib is also a producer whose cup runneth over. His enigmatic, workaholic reputation even prompted one Pitchfork writer to write, My theory about Madlib is that he is actually a bubble-man of sorts, rolling around all day in a human-sized, music studio version of a hamster ball. I know he has at least 80 unreleased albums Does anyone have an idea how many unreleased albums Prince has?

How hard is it 2 have 40 gigs of sampled material?

it's not all sample material.
He's said the 10 "groups" he introduced on Yesterdays Universe have all completed at least 5 albums. One of the groups, The Jahari Massamba Unit(him and Karriem Riggins) have finished 9 albums according to Riggins. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...em_Riggins http://en.wikipedia.org/w...s_Universe [Edited 2/17/09 9:45am]

good point; that being said, he has done a lot of original/cover tracks with Yesterday's New Quintet. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

oh GOD yes
I "stumbled upon" a gang of unreleased albums & such once... I'm sure there is more where that came from! *leaves thread humming* "humdalilah allah jehovah.." because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Madlib has released albums under different aliases like Quasimoto & Yesterdays New Quintet amongst others, so there must be lots of music out there which hasn't yet been released. I'm assuming there could be more music with Jay Dee, Talib Kweli and MF Doom too.

Jeez I thought Stones Throw was releasing EVERYTHING Madlib did (by the sheer frequency), but now that explains why some of his stuff ends up on white labels.
His latest Beat Konducta CD is really good.
