Jacko: No London Shows, Thanks
Michael Jackson is not getting ready for any London shows this summer.

The Times of London Saturday is recycling stories from this column from last year indicating that Jackson will play a series of dates at AEG Live’s O2 Arena.

I first told you about these offers more than a year ago. Readers of this column have followed the saga. Jackson had an offer for $10 million guaranteed against $30 million. But the economy was very different then, and so was Jackson. AEG would still like Jackson to perform but the terms of the offer would be different now. sad

Ah, the British press. They’re so much fun! lol

I'm just gonna wait and see what happens lol

Right now, my whole thing is obtaining more footage and music from the 1980-1989 period

I still have to send BJ that clip from 1979. I wonder how much it would cost to send a VHS tape from Cali to Georgia.....

Cost? You actually gotta have money to send a tape out of state? That's new, lol... but I've never sent anything out of store either so what do I know? lol

Despite the usual cynical reaction by orgers - perhaps sadness that our man's record run will be broken - as a person who has been directly attached to both ground events, I can confirm that this summer's comeback will go ahead. There is no rumour element to this. AEG Live and Outside Organisation are handling it - just like Prince.

What's more is that Mr. Jackson was in perfect health last week, just a few training sessions short of tour readiness.

He is chomping at the bit to get back out there, and it's not just the money or proving people wrong. Jackson lives for his fans and the live performance. He has been through very difficult times, which made getting the best out of him was unlikely in recent years. He is very eloquent on the subject. Being the consumate professional and perfectionist, Jackson now feels in the right state of mind, with the right energy and motivation to produce his very best.

You can doubt all you like, but 2009 will go down as the year that the improbable happened, the year when Michael Jackson restored his mantle as one of history's greatest and most reputed live performers.

I will post some more details about the shows themselves at a later date.

If 2007 was the year of Prince, 2009 heralds the return of a King.

Michael Jackson hasn't perform LIVE since 1988.

An o2 run hasn't been confirmed by anyone. And what's more, AEG live said the shows were "speculation".

^Who says he's gonna sell out 30 dates?

And touring is part of being a pop artist, it's not like people in these heights don't have their own private jet and stuff, I'm really not gonna feel sorry for either MJ or Madonna having to travel from country to country every other day.

I agree.I can't see how a musical artist can say that they "don't like touring".That's ridiculous. They got the wrong type of career if they feel that way...lol...

thats crap and u know it

he toured constantly from the age of 12 to 40. give the man a break!

.But I disagree with the one who said people expect "live" singing. I'm sure people rather see Mj dance exactly like he did 25 years ago than singing but standing quiet.

I'd much rather hear him sing, if it comes down to choosing between one or the other
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

He toured only 3 times in the last 20 years, nothing since 1997. He was given plenty of break already.

No tour since 1997 but he did 2 gigs in 1999 and 2 shows in 2001

who decides when he gets break and when he doesnt? thats ridiculous.
since 1997 he has added two more kids to his life. his life = being a single father of 3 pre-teen kids. i guess he COULD have spent his life on the road and let someone else bring his kids up for them to wonder who the heck their dad is, or, he could be a father... something he actually likes better than performing! (but we wouldnt want MJ to be happy, would we)

Stop making excuses for him rolleyes The man is just lazy and uninspired.Madonna has three children and she still manages to tour every two years.Performing for your fans is part of being a recording artist and if you can't do it anymore, you should just retire.

Madonna had also a 8 year touring break from '93 to '01! Unlike Michael she is not a single parent (at least she wasn't) and still only went on tour over the summer months, when her kids were not in school! She specifically mentioned that as a reason for not going to Australia on the Confessions tour!

So, Michael's situation is not really comparable... espically if you consider the trouble with the record company from '01 to '02, the trial from '03 to '05 and the recovery from it in the following years! Who knows how things would have went if all that crap wouldn't have happened!

And sorry, just because someone is a recording artists doesn't oblige him to go on tour!

No,I don't buy any of those excuses. If Michael truly wanted to tour, there is nothing holding him back.He just doesn't want to tour anymore, which is fine, but he should be honest about it and let the fans know that he has retired from live performances.I would be pissed if Madonna was playing games like this with her fans.
