This is a show that I don't really watch, I just listen to it while I'm doing other stuff. But, I haven't missed a season.
Anyway, I liked the guy that sang "A Song For You". Until he got to the end, that is. He tried to do too much. The other ones were blah, so far. I'm glad they are mixing up the girls and guys this year.

I'm watching it now. A lot of the performances have not been very good. I find myself agreeing with the judges on some of their comments.
The one girl that I wish they'd get rid of is Tatiana. She seems so fake, and her laugh makes me want to throw a brick at her head. Tatiana RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Simon just called Tatiana, "A complete and utter drama queen." Right on, Simon, I could not agree with you more. I get sick of her damn crying every week. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

And for your information, U just don't how much I've been smiling (in laughter) while watching this program this season. I was really laughing when Nick Norman (or whatever that character's name is) was accepted over other much more qualified contestants. I don't think the show has the kind of impact it once did. The winners from Seasons 5 - 7 haven't been hugely successful, but neither has Reuben Studdard from Season 2. And I heard that Soul Patrol guy from Season 5 is performing on cruise ships.
I liked the guy who performed Mariah's song last night but, like last season, I don't see anyone in this current group that I would really be rooting for. I'm going to watch the next couple of weeks and see if it holds my interest long enough to sit through the entire season. Right now, the only reason why I would continue to watch is to see Nick Norman but I don't think he'll make it through to the top 12. [Edited 2/18/09 8:26am] "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! It just seems like Tatiana likes to play the victim role: "If I cry and act like I'm nervous, people will feel sorry for me and will vote to keep me on the show." RIP, mom. i caught clips of the Danny Gokey guy, think thats his name, you might as well pencil this guy in as the winner, because from the clips i saw from all the 36, unless this guy cuts his vocal chord out, or has some sort of scandal, he is clearly the best "singer" in there. But the show has really run its course. I just checked out a clip of him doing Seal's "Kiss from a Rose" and I was really impressed. I think he'll do well in this competition. I haven't seen all the audition shows though and the show that was yesterday won't be shown here until next Monday... Plus we Icelanders have our own Idol show to care about. The difference is that the only scandal so far on this year's Icelandic Idol is not about a competitor, but about one of the judges here, because a transcript of a phonecall of him ording cocaine and speed from a convicted dealer made it online today. I do agree that the American Idol series is getting a bit tired now... The local Idol has benefitted from having been off the air for 3 years until now.... we had 3 seasons of Idol, the last one in 2006, then the same TV-station started the X-Factor competition instead the following year and last year we had a local show similar to the Rock Star:INXS show but with some differences.. so although we've had lots of singing competition shows during the 3-year hiatus, the Idol concept is still not as worn-out as it is in the US.

it always has sucked, all they are doing is allowing a nation of karoake singers, sure some have good voices and look good, but i can get that in any club in the city anytime. Shit, American Idol sucked the first year it came out. It was only an excuse to bring back Paula. One decent thing in my mind came from the first season, which was Kelly Clarkson. I also think Katharine McPhee is pretty decent (and I know lastdecember agrees with that), and Jordin Sparks has a good voice. It has always been a shit show, but at least there was hope they might find someone reasonably decent - not this year.

! My wish has come true. They booted Tatiana off the show tonight. There is a god! Of course, the first thing Tatiana did, when she got voted off, was cover her face and bawl (like she always does). But at least now I won't have to watch her antics anymore. Thank God for small favors. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Its not a great show, but i enjoy it for the fact that i get to re-discover old songs, and its fun to see what a new generation does with them.
I enjoy music more than almost any other kind of entertainment and there isnt much of it on tv, not even on MTV. Also its a show you can have playing in the background while working on something else and enjoy just the same.

I wouldn't quite jump up and down yet. Remember that this season they have a wildcard round where the singers not good enough to make the top nine get another shot to gain the last three spots in the top 12. Just based on her vocals alone, Tatiana has a decent chance to make the wildcard round, and based on the whole Sanjaya factor, she is probably the most entertaining (if incredibly annoying) of all the contestants. So we may see her again in three weeks. As for the show itself, I don't really see anything wrong with the show; I still think it is quite entertaining. But it is in its eighth season, so we've seen everything come and go, and the freshness factor isn't there. Having said that, most scripted shows would kill just to last eight seasons, and most of them that do last run out of fresh ideas by their fifth or sixth season and have already jumped the shark by then. Considering that American Idol and CSI are the two most watched TV shows in America and are on their eighth and ninth seasons respectively are major accomplishments in themselves. The Simpsons was not only once one of the most watched TV shows when it first came out, it was the epitome of cutting edge TV. These days, however, its highest ratings are only one-fifth of what it was in its heyday. ER was once the hottest show on TV and buttressed NBC's lineup in the 1990's, but it only draws about one-fourth the audience it once had. So despite the fact that American Idol is still the most watched program on TV, people talk about it like it's gone down to oblivion; yet so-called cutting edge shows like Mad Men, Dexter, Nip/Tuck and Entourage are touted as the most awesome shows on TV, even though only a handful of people watch them. They are drawing superb ratings considering what is possible.

It has always been a shit show, but at least there was hope they might find someone reasonably decent - not this year. People mix up the fact that this show isnt finding "talent" its about finding whos the most popular, big difference. Scary thing is that i heard Paula Abdul of all people make a dead on comment about vocals, something she has had, she said sometimes a great voice, can be boring. Which sums up this show, its a popularity contest for the most part, always has been, so i hope people are not getting into this whole, "oh there was more talent back then" bull shit, same thing year after year, its just growing tired now. The dude they have this Danny Gokey, should win, they should close the voting now, because any person i heard on clips of this show had nowhere near the voice or even the abiltiy to do something with their voice, plus this guy has that "Rasp" in his voice, he sang freakin "Hero" and gave it a soul that the song never had, so cancel the rest of season 8 give this dude his album and move on. As for Katharine Mcphee she was probably the only one i was moved enough to buy, in fact the only one i ever bought, but as usual they wanted to turn her into something she wasnt, this sexed up rb singer pairing her with Danja for most of the record, the stuff with Ryan Leslie got trashed thank god, her strong suit is ballads, she worked with Walter, who Mariah started with, and needs to find again, because on Kat's track "Ordinary World" she blows old mariah out the box. You know, you're right. I forgot about the wildcard round. Hopefully Tatiana won't get back in, but you never know. They do seem to keep annoying and/or interesting people on the show. I think they do it to get people to keep tuning in to watch the show every week. I don't think too many people will soon forget contestants like Sanjaya and William "She Bangs! She Bangs!" I like the show a lot too, and I've been watching it since the first season. I think the creators of American Idol are realizing that they needed to change things up a bit. That might be why they added Cara as a new judge, so she could give her perspective on the contestants' ability (or non-ability) to sing. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I was thinking the same thing last nite...she's gone for now, but I think she has a very good chance of coming back for the wildcard pick. The girl can sing--even tho she's a drama queen--and you know how the producers love contestants who are "hot topics" MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent
