woot! Obrigado ! I'm gonna take some time to check those clips. There are so many performances of him posted on Youtube, lol.
I believe he was the nephew of the late Tim Maia, who was also very popular in Brasil.

A collector of Brasilian grooves once hooked me up to Motta's sambas. I bought spare copies which he had of Ed's debut-album and his third LP, and have purchased most of his albums since then.
Had a ball to finally attend a Motta-jam a few years back. What was so funny, is that bandmembers in Brasil get named after their instrument.
So during that show i saw, Ed introduced his guitarman as "Paulinho Guitarra" guitar And on a live-cd from him released around 1993, he announces one of the hornplayers as "Serginho Trombone" lol
Serginho also released a cd under that name, lol.

Here his 3rd album and a more recent one. Dig his vintage design, inspired by the "Tin Tin"-character of illustrator Herge.

You also watched his live-dvd , released on the cool Brasilian Trama-label ?

At one point during the show, Tania Maria shows up onstage and Ed looks like a happy kid by watching her perform dancing jig

The cat has a serious record collection too. What you see here below is a small part of the lot.

Yep! there's one track on "Manual..." which has the same drum-intro as "Brickhouse" from the Commodores, lol (forgot the title now)

"Astelym" is the last one i bought. Great project indeed, and also dig that sort of more classical-written medley of the album, which is segmented in a few parts.

Looking forward to go check "Chapter 9"
