Morrissey "Years of refusal"

Been listening to The Moz's new album since Monday and I have to say it's a major dissappointment.

Only "Something is squeezing my skull" is half decent (yet it wouldn't have been considered for a Morrissey B-Side ten years ago).

Lyrically the songs are extremely egotistical and tuneless. Morrissey seems to no longer care about the world in which he inhabits.
The cult of Moz needs constant feeding on this album.

A poorer album even than "Maladjusted". mad

I place it last on my list of his albums.

1. Vauxhall and I
2. Bona Drag
3. You are the quarry
4. Your Arsenal
5. Viva Hate
6. Kill Uncle
7. Southpaw Grammar
8. Ringleader of the Tormentors
9. Maladjusted
10. Years of Refusal mad

It's a very poor album, with self-parodic lyrics covering the same old ground, and lumpen, plodding, unimaginative music to match. I like It's Not Your Birthday Anymore, but that's about it. It's up there with his biggest stinkers - Ringleader and Maladjusted. I think Maladjusted is a tad better, because it has two good songs on it as opposed to Years and Ringleaders's one.

I love Morrisey's music...I haven't purchased the album yet and after reading your comments I'm a bit unsure!

No wait..I'll buy the album and then I can post my thoughts on here too.
I heard the rip when you sat down!

I don´t know which album you listened to, because YOR is great from start to finish. Powerful, melodic, superb. There is only one song on it I don´t love (Sorry doesn´t help) but plenty of gems that make it one of my favourite Morrissey-albums. How can you not love "I´m OK By Myself", " The Last Time I Spoke To Carol", "One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell" or "It´s Not Your Birthday anymore"? It´s up there with "You Are The Quarry"!

Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

You're wrong! I think the album is great and it reminds me of his work with the SMITHS.
