Etta James to Do Concert With Adele

Adele will perform a dream show - she is to co-headline a one-off concert with her idol, soul legend Etta James.

News of the gig, which takes place at the Hollywood Bowl this Summer, first surfaced last week. But now the Grammy-winning London songstress has confirmed the show is going ahead, by blogging on her MySpace page.

Clearly excited by the prospect of sharing the stage with her hero, Adele posted a message under the title of 'BEST THING EVER!!!!'.

"I don't actually know if I'm allowed to tell you yet but I just read it somewhere else so..." Explains Adele. "I've been booked to play the Hollywood Bowl in June for a while now. But ETTA JAMES just got confirmed to co-headline it with me!!!!!"

"Etta james is my favourite singer ever!" she continued. "This is the most amazing thing ever for me!"

The 'Chasing Rainbows' singer has mapped-out a US tour for March, her full forthcoming Stateside schedule is as follows:

March Tour Dates:

San Diego, CA House of Blues (9)
Scottsdale, AZ Martini Ranch (10)
Austin, TX La Zona Rosa (12)
Houston, TX Warehouse Live (14)
Dallas-Ft Worth, TX (15)
Atlanta, GA (17)
Nashville, TN (18)
Detroit, MI (20)
Cleveland, OH (21)

May Tour Dates:

New York, NY (5)

June Tour Dates:

Los Angeles, CA Hollywood Bowl (28)

They aren't playing in my town, but if they were I think I'd check them out. I heard Etta is kinda "raunchy" lol I'd like to see her just once. lol The funny this is, I saw Adele on Craig Ferguson a couple weeks ago and wondered how she'd sound singing "At Last". I swear I did. She has a huskiness to her voice that made me think of Etta.

Edited the title for clarity.

Yes, bravo Etta! biggrin This feels like a symbolic "passing the torch" gesture. From a PR standpoint and a musical one, this was a good move by Etta (unless she shows her behind LOL Perez has a bit about this on his site and says he is looking forward to it, so we'll hear all about it if Etta starts cutting up lol ).I look forward to reading the review! :
