Of course! The eyes, the shapely figure, similar skin tones. She's probably trying to figure out who she is right now in preparation for the part.

Seriously,do you remember that singer Alyson Williams? She reminds me of Phyllis and I think she even played Phyllis in a stage play that was created by the Whispers.

And I bet Phyllis Hyman is her main inspiration, and its the "role of her life".

God please bring Phyllis back from the grave so she could strangle this bitch

Great work she recorded with High Fashion in the early 80's. And her last recorded album a few years back is tight as well.

Yeah, and i feel the Chic-sound was an influence as well.
There's an excellent documented site about the whole production-company of High Fashion/BB&Q Band/Change/Peter Jaques Band/Zinc/etc : www.jacquespetrus.com

The owner Jaques Petrus had a short life, because most of the production-finances came from money owned by the Mafia.

Yes, I think Alyson would be a great choice to play Phyllis. People used to compare those two because they both used to wear those sharp hats.

I just got another Phyllis Hyman compilation lol This one appears to be one of those "odds and ends"-type of compilations, featuring her earliest recordings and a handful of jazzy collaborations with other artists.

Leavin The Good Life Behind (Long Version)
Baby (I'm Gonna Love You)
Do Me
Betcha By Golly Wow (Norman Connors featuring Phyllis Hyman)
Love Is Here (Pharoah Sanders featuring Phyllis Hyman)
As You Are (Pharoah Sanders featuring Phyllis Hyman)
I Got It Bad And That Ain't Good/Mood Indigo (Phyllis Hyman and Terri Klausner)
Take The "A" Train (Phyllis Hyman and Gregory Hines)
Maybe Tomorrow (The Four Tops featuring Phyllis Hyman)
The Survivor (Joe Sample featuring Phyllis Hyman)
Obsession (Lonnie Liston Smith featuring Phyllis Hyman)
Remember Who You Are (Norman Connors featuring Phyllis Hyman)

I especially like the first two tracks...the 1975 disco track "Leavin The Good Life Behind" and the mellow 1976 R&B jam "Baby (I'm Gonna Love You)",which should have been a big hit back then.

The CD isn't perfect. It contains a dreadfully dated 80s track "Maybe Tomorrow" with the Four Tops.Where did this crap come from? confuse Just so you know,it is NOT a remake of the Jackson Five classic.

nod I always noticed a similarity with these two ladies

They're both tall, very beautiful ladies with alot of talent, who didn't always get the recognition they deserved. They both favored large hats, lol.

Ahhhh yes...Phyllis Hyman. My husband and I really love her music. She is a classic, although a lot of younger people may not be aware of her. She was a fantastic talent and put out great music, though she never reached Chaka Khan or a Whitney Houston star status, but she could hang with the best of them. My favorite song from her was I think called All alone. It kind of went like "I can't stand this feeling all alone". She sung that song with all her heart.

"Phyllis, we will always remember you, and you're never forgotten girl."

That song is called "Living All Alone" from her 1986 album of the same name.
