there is a difference between "overrated" and just popular and all over the mainstream, artists like Akon and T Pain and Rihanna, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Jonas, etc...are all over but are they getting props from critics?? not that i have heard, at least not much, they are getting played and selling in this non selling climate. and HYPED to death by their labels and thrown in our faces, but critical acclaim is something totally different.

In my opinion real music is becoming a lost art... So when you see bands like Coldplay that play music courtesy of a full band that isn't rock music people tend to cling to it. Most all music we hear now has been created with a computer, a fancy drum machine and a keyboard. It doesn't get much more simple than that, so when you hear music being played by a band that writes their own music people tend to gravitate towards it, even if the music is only halfway decent.
