Well, as we have seen, Vanity was easily replaceable in term of appearance (i.e. her commonality). Diana Ross was not. Sure Vanity's attitude was different, but her look was/is not unique or astounding, and is greatly overrated here. She shouldn't even be compared to Diana Ross.
