Usher's wife checks out of Brazil hospital Usher's wife checks out of Brazil hospital
By CAROLINA ESCALERA, Associated Press Writer Carolina Escalera, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 13 mins ago SAO PAULO, Brazil – The wife of R&B singer Usher was released from a Sao Paulo hospital after spending 11 days recovering from a cardiac arrest she suffered shortly before undergoing plastic surgery. A spokeswoman for the Sirio-Libanes Hospital said Wednesday that Tameka Raymond left the facility Monday night but declined to provide any details on Raymond's treatment at the family's request. The spokewoman spoke on condition of anonymity per hospital policy. Representatives for Usher had no immediate comment. Ellen Dastry, a spokeswoman for the doctor who was to perform the plastic surgery, said last week that Raymond suffered a cardiac arrest while being anesthetized ahead of a "simple liposuction" at Sao Paulo's Sao Rafael Hospital. Raymond was revived in less than a minute with heart massage, and was placed in an induced coma before being taken to the intensive-care unit, said Dastry, spokeswoman for plastic surgeon Silvio Sterman. She was then transferred to the posh and better-equipped Sirio-Libanes Hospital to recover. Usher was supposed to perform at music mogul Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party, but backed out to come to Brazil to be with his wife. The 30-year-old R&B star and his wife were married in August 2007. They have two young sons, 2-year-old Usher Raymond V and 2-month-old Naveid Ely Raymond.

I'm taking all this with a grain of salt until I hear from either of them. You KNOW they'll be on the cover of Essence with the kids talking about her near death experience.

I was wondering about that myself. Maybe she did it for privacy. I think it was too soon for her to be having a major surgery. Wasn't her last child born in October or November? That is too soon to be having a tummy tuck/lipo or whatever she was having. It doesn't make sense to me for her to travel to Brazil for the operation when she had some of the best doctors in LA. Besides, they had to fly a plastic surgeon from Cedar Sinai in LA to help with the complications. I wish her the best and am glad she's ok...especially for the children. No child deserves to lose their mother growing up. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

[Edited 2/18/09 14:07pm] I guess I missed the thread (or gave up on it). I understand her wanting to keep it quiet, but she definitely should have waited a year or so to do any surgery. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I'm hoping that it was closed heart massage which is more of applying pressure to the sternum. As opposed to open heart massage which is the actual physical massaging of the heart itself through an opening in the chest. www.myspace.com/derranday Check it out!

Is it wrong if I don't feel bad for her? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Well the first one is really what it says like a chest massage no incisions or anything like that, the second one, "open heart massage" is just ALL bad even if they save you, they have to get into the chest cavity which is obviously no good! So i'm really hoping they didn't have to do that to her! www.myspace.com/derranday Check it out!

Maybe not bad but feel sad for her....she let simple things in life get pushed to the back of her mind and took a risk that was very silly and self harming ...the pressure of the western world to be something your not...and not to be thankful for what you got... I do feel alot of US stars should travel more ... move country ...get a better idea what's going on around the world and not sit in the bubble.. Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
