Centipede album by Rebbie Jackson. How many songs did MJ write?

a website (mjjackson.de) claims MJ has not only written the title (which is no secret) but also the second track, Get Alive It's Saturday Night.

It's not a strong song but does anyone know if this's true? Do ou like it???

I think boths songs sound a bit unlike MJ:

only Centipede, I think Get Alive It's Saturday Night was written by some of the other brothers

Try Allmusic.com. They usually list the writers/composers of the songs.

Can you believe that album achieved Gold status based on the strength of that one song?! And yet CBS never saw fit to reissue it over here in the States on CD? They only reissued it on disc overseas.

I have Rebbie's first album on vinyl.I'll pull it out and look at the credits.I'm pretty sure that Michael only wrote the one song ("Centipede").

Question: How many of you heard the song "Centipede" in 1984,and thought that it was Rebbie doing all that powerful wailing near the end? lol You know the part...in the final chorus? How many of you thought "Wow,she can really SING!!"

It's actually Martha Wash singing that part.

It´s funny that a thread about her came up today because I just took the only CD of hers that I got out after a year or so. lol

Anyways, I don´t know who wrote that song cause I don´t even have the album. But I like Centipede.

Okay,I am looking at the lyric sheet right now.Michael wrote "Centipede" only.Another track "Come Alive It's Saturday Night" was written by Tito,Jackie,Marlon and Randy Jackson.Interestingly, this album includes a remake of Prince's "I Feel For You",which was also covered by Chaka Khan around this time.

thanks David!

I know her IFFY cover and compared to Prince and Chaka it's pretty weak.

How is the rest of Rebbie's album? I bought it on a vinyl dig several months ago but never actually sat down and listened to it.I only paid $1.00 for it!

I think Rebbie has a pleasant voice, but she needed stronger material.I heard some of her other singles (after this album) and I wasn't impressed.

I have the CD. I like her reading of "Private Joy" a lot. Contrary to popular belief, when given strong material to work with, Latoya has a half-way decent voice. I don't think he voice is any worse than Janet's or Rebbie's.

Rebbie's version of I Feel For You sounds much more like the Prince version than Chaka.

Yeah it wasn't that great. I do however like her cover of The Miracle's song "Fork In The Road".

Oh naw I heard her hit all kinds of wrong notes, and those were studio recordings. Latoya definitely doesn't have the voice of Janet or Rebbie.

Ditto for the Pointer Sister's 1982 version.I actually hate the Chaka Khan version of "I Feel For You".It's too loud and too "busy",with all the rapping and sampling. It's a noisy mess.

The noisiest part is probably my favorite... with that sample from Little Stevie's "Fingertips"
