Yes...the artist is Matthew Wilder this song went to number #5 on the pop charts. Wouldn't you know it, Sean Puffy Combs borrowed a line from this song.

Hey Davideye. Which year in the 80's do you think was the best? In terms of top 40 pop songs, I think 1983 was the best{that year was the bomb!!!That Matthew Wilder song came out in 83'}. Even though critics and music historian say that 1984 was the best year.

I would agree with you,1983 was the best year! Prince and MJ were releasing kickass singles, and you also had Culture Club,Lionel Ritchie,Pat Benatar,Mtume,The Isley Bros,Midnight Star and others with great singles on the charts. This was also the year that New Edition came out.

Man,...83' was off the hook. But some great singles came out in 84 too. Stuff like

***Automatic-Pointer Sisters

***Dancing In The Dark-Bruce Springsteen

***Like A Virgin-Madonna

***You're A Hard Habit To Break-Chicago

To me 1980-1984 were superb top 40 pop/R&B years, after 84, it kinda started going downhill.
