NAACP Awards??

I was very disappointed by several things before I stopped watching..

1. Will.i.am singing with a choir- i'm ready to raise funds to revive the career of michael if we have to listen to garbage like this

2. Diddy winning a best actor award- wth?

3. Unveiling Muhammad Ali on stage and leaving him out there trembling through a tribute performance- this could have been done differently...
-Jennifer Hudson's tribute/death song to him...-wth?

4. Halle's hair- uuggh
5. House of Payne winning a 2cd award.

What other atrocities did I miss in walking away from that?
LOVE HARD.

It's funny how every year someone makes an embarrassing mistake during this live broadcast. This year, the male announcer said before the first or second commercial break, "....when we return to the NCAA...Image Awards!."

I don't know if I'd say I was proud watching this show, but I was entertained.

I didn't like seeing Ali shaking up there, but damn it if I didn't find Hudson's voice gorgeous. Man...I love her voice.

Anything from or on B.E.T. is white corporate America's minstrel view of black people, even when its black faces on the screen saying the words. Puppetry at its finest. I don't turn on that channel for anything anymore. no no no!

Yeah, I can agree with that sentiment. BET is very upsetting. confused But the NAACP Awards is on FOX. lol Well, I guess that isn't any better, LOL.

It really ain't. They're not really two different peas in the same pod, lol.

They just PASS along it as a civil show, but it has as much tomfoolery as the BET channel does. If I was one of those running the thing, I wouldn't have put Ali out there in that chair stammering and shaking as if he was holding for dear life. hmph!

disbelief Some type of fumble always occurs, Every. Single. YEAR! lol But, I thought the show had some nice moments. Beyonce and J.Hud were great performing as usual, and I though Tyler Perry was a good comical host. His suit was beautiful.

Having everyone crying and shit. They did that on purpose. We know the man's bout with Parkinson's disease is slowly eating him away from us, why do that to the man? They wanted to show his "courage" but really that was foul. sad I'm sure Ali didn't even wanna be there. God bless that man anyways.

Well, I thought Ali was VERY happy. It was easy 2 see, although one couldn't help but feel 4 him. Ali was like a superhero 2 me as a kid.

I was already all choked up during Muhammad Ali's award presentation, then I see Stevie NAILING "Black Man", and at the end, when they say "...44th President, Barack Obama, a Black man..." and the crowd erupted, I was cryin' like a little baby.

Also, Will Smith's acceptance speech was so heartfelt, and well said.

I'm a bit surprised Prince wasn't there, considering Ali alone.

PEACE>

ALSO... U realize by saying that they shouldn't have had Ali onstage, U R saying that people with disabilities shouldn't be exposed 2 the public.

He was CLEARLY delighted... don't forget that his mind still works normally.

I think it shows a REAL CHAMPION. A REAL HERO 2 all.

no not the point- M. Ali was the "GREATEST"- what point is it for NAACP to "stage" him. Yes I think you should be awarded while the blood still runs warm in your veins- however- he did not have to be onstage for 7 1/2 minutes - visibly moved by emotion yet not able to communicate it. It was over the top. BTW he looked very handsome in his tux

I hear that. It was nice 2 see him clapping his hands though!

Man, when I was a kid my Brother Tommy was a boxing nut, and a HUGE Ali fan.

We used 2 box (with boxing gloves), and he'd imitate Ali.

I was a bit 2 young 2 watch Ali fight on TV, but I do remember his last few fights.

In my generation, I was all about Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns, and Mike Tyson, both of whom my Bro also loved as fighters.

ANYWAY... (good coffee) as I said above, I really dug the Ali award, Stevie's performance, and Will Smith's speech.

I'm actually surprised that Stevie's voice is still as good as it is.
