Great orchestral arrangement @ the intro. Check both Minnie's and Jose's pitched vocals almost toward the end.

Sometimes it's hard for me to choose a fave, like with the covers of Chaka & Meli'sa which i previously mentioned. Here another example like that by Jose :

Another tie. Both greatly arranged.

Madonna's version is terrible.

Stevie Wonder - We can work it out (Beatles)
Joe Cocker - She came i throught the bathroom window (Beatles)
Joe Cocker - With a lil help from my friends (Beatles)

Funny lil list that ha....and I'm a huge Beatles fan...

Totally agree. Sometimes Beatles covers blow away their original recordings.

I would also add the guilty pleasures:

Bette Midler "In My Life"
Elvis Presley "Something" (not better then the original, but equally good and different)

GM in general does the better versions (most of the time). Listen to his version of Victims... beautiful...

As a true music lover, I must say, I really do think that this thread really should've been titled, "Which covers do you prefer?" As opposed to, "Remakes That Are Better Than The Original!"

I believe you should give repsect back to the original composers and their compositions....cuz whether YOU like that original song or not, at the end of the day if they didn't come up with it, you never woulda heard it in the first place, know what I mean?

In my opinion, saying that Madonna's version of "I Want You" is better than Marvin Gaye's is like saying that this version of "Beat It" is better than Michael's:

fantastioc, you made me laugh!! This version is not better but funnier than MJs version!!!

Me neither, she didn't add ANYTHING to it

sublime. It's my valetine theme, simply because every time valetine comes around a relationship has just ended, for me.

Perhaps you've heard of him, his name is Prance, or Pronce, or something like that smile
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Yeah, i've had that a few times too with classics from other artists, lol.
And Meli'sa looks great in that clip. There are a few other cool tracks on
that same debut-album of her, such as "Heartbreaking Decisions". Worth to check.

hmph! No way is Wham's "If You Were There" better than the original. Nope.

Cyndi Lauper's "All Through the Night" is at least a billion times better than the original.
